December 1, 2010.Harding University plans weekend celebration of Tuscany in Searcy..SEARCY, Ark. — Harding University will bring Tuscany to Searcy this weekend in a special celebration marking the 30th anniversary of international programs, which began in 1980 with Harding’s first study abroad opportunity in Florence, Italy. ..The weekend festivities will help raise money for international programs, and events include everything from an Italian-themed chapel and silent auction Friday morning to a special gala Saturday evening...Friday, Dec. 3.9 a.m. - Italian chapel in Benson Auditorium with Scandicci Mayor Simone Gheri..9:45 a.m. - Silent Auction in McInteer Building Rotunda (display will stay up until 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, and then be moved to the Founders Room in the American Heritage Center)..10 a.m.-10 p.m. - Pictures of Harding University in Florence (HUF) in the Liberty Room on campus..2:30 p.m. - Motorcade will escort Mayor Gheri from the Harding Honors House to the White County Courthouse where he will be greeted by Searcy Mayor Belinda LaForce..5-10 p.m. - Luigi Italian Restaurant will donate 15 percent of proceeds toward Harding’s international programs..Saturday, Dec. 4.8 a.m.-12 p.m. - Underground Coffee Shop will donate 10 percent of proceeds toward Harding’s international programs..10 a.m.-7 p.m. - Pictures of HUF in the Liberty Room on campus..1 p.m., 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. - Premiere showings of HUF documentary produced by Harding film students in spring 2010 with direction from renowned director and producer Jay Russell in Heritage Auditorium..7 p.m. - Taste of Tuscany Gala in the Founders Room...All events are free and open to the public except for the Taste of Tuscany Gala. On December 9, 2016, the Arboretum and Public Garden had the opportunity to welcome a group of students from a journalism program in Visalia CA. The aspiring young journalists had the opportunity to interview our Museum Education & Interpretive Manager- Maya Makker, GATEways Outreach Students- Vivian Le and Rachel Le and our Outreach and Leadership Program Coordinator- Melissa Cruz.
