The weather right now in Finland is grey, cloudy, raining, dirty piles of melting snow and ice, and it requires really high level of professionalism to create an art masterpiece scenery from it, my skills are not yet so developed. :-)
So this is an excuse to post a bit older photo from a summer travel to Slovakia, beautiful low Tatras.
Taken on Eurovision Final day as fans head towards Liverpool Arena.
Liverpool City Council’s Eurovision Village at the Pier Head on the waterfront. Welcomed 250,000 visitors during the nine days it was open.
Cllr Harry Doyle, said: “The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of blue and yellow as we have welcomed people from across the world to celebrate with us on behalf of Ukraine. Anyone who got the chance to be in the city centre over the past few days knows how busy it was and the incredible buzz it generated. We always knew Liverpool would sparkle during Eurovision and now we just hope those people who came and were part of history come back again and bring their friends!"
Director of Culture Liverpool, Claire McColgan, said: “The logistics of staging an event of this scale and within this time period would have been impossible without the incredible support of our colleagues across the city council and our city partners. Everyone across the city and region stepped up and it was a true team effort. We are uniquely lucky to have a collection of experts in their field who handled everything we threw at them with professionalism, good grace and humour.”
Bill Addy, CEO of Liverpool BID Company, said: “The lasting memory of Eurovision in Liverpool will be one of joy. To see so many people enjoy the city has given it such a buzz and that’s the message we have had from our businesses. They’re telling us they have seen a real boost in people coming in and just wanting to enjoy the atmosphere. The private sector, through BID, made a six figure investment to help ensure the benefit of Eurovision would be felt throughout the city centre. We’ve spent a lot of time with our city centre businesses helping to prepare for this, from window dressing and artwork to karaoke displays and language classes, so it’s great to see it paying off. We know that the impact of Eurovision isn’t purely in the two weeks of celebrations, but for the 160m people watching at home and the projected economic impact of £250m over the next three years.”

Jean, Jasper and I had an opportunity to meet one of my Flickr / Instagram friends in the real world this weekend. Borzena joined us at the Riparian Preserve and we had a nice stroll, took some pictures (mostly of Jasper) and got to know each other. She's a very talented photographer so it was fun to share our love of photography. This is one of the shots I took along the way, Jasper posing with his usual grace and professionalism.

Natural Bridges has one of the darkest skies in the US, with almost no light pollution. It is one of the greatest places to observe the night ski. The International Dark-Sky Association has designated Natural Bridges National Monument as the world's first International Dark Sky Park.
Sipapu Bridge seen here is the second largest natural bridge in the world and means "the place of emergence"
A trip to the southwest, for me is always a bit spiritual, the Navajo culture is deep with mystical stories of past ancestors and spirit guides that oversee your conduct in life and in the wilds.
For this trip I was going to be basing my central camp in the San Juan Valley and venture to my favorite areas for more scouting and shooting. I departed the house with William McIntosh to meet up with Wayne Pinkston in Mexican Hat for a shoot in Natural Bridges.
Upon meeting at the visitor center, we quickly departed for the bridges, we ran into Gabriel Biderman teaching a workshop at Owachomo Bridge so the place seemed like a zoo as we are used to shooting more remote locations but Gabriel was very courteous and most accommodating, so "hats" of to him for his professionalism. We shot there for a couple hours and then made off for Sipapu Bridge further up the road. As we descended into the darkness my spidey senses started to awaken, the deeper we went the more they tingled and I felt like eyes were watching us and then thought about the story behind the arch. It was thought that this was a doorway to a spirit world and spirits passed from this realm to the afterlife, the civilizations of old would watch here for them to emerge. 😱 After many swithbacks and a sharp descent I started to wonder “where is this thing”, we reached stage one, a 10 ft handmade ladder constructed of wood gathered from around the area, you know the kind of wood that you burn in the fire pit!!! Wayne truly is amazing, he just shrugged it off like some modern day Indiana Jones and down he went, I shot Bill a glance and I could see his spidey sense had gone off too. I think telepathy kicked in and I saw in Bills eyes exactly what I was thinking, “What a minute, no body said anything about sketchy wooden ladders descending into the darkness” Rut-Ro(scooby). Several hundred feet later we ran into another “Ladder” which was even sketchier than the last one, this is the point where my curiosity peaked so I grabbed my one million candlepower torchlight and lit up the darkness and what "emerged" was the most awe inspiring behemoth of an arch I have ever seen, it literally blotted out the night sky completing the darkness. By the time we reached the third “Ladder” we were directly under this colossal structure. With a massive buttress to the right it stretches 225' across wide enough to drive a automobile over, and stands 145' high. Humm, how do I get the RAV4 up there, Hehe. As soon as my mind absorbed the enormity of it I felt like an ant, you know the one that you smash(Budda be damned) on your kitchen counter for trespassing. A truly unique and humbling experience to be sure. This scene was lit up by Wayne, while I did the test exposures and I could see Bill exploring the area to shoot with of course his FISHEYE!!! That guy loves that lens and the more he uses it the more I feel the need for one too!! If anybody has a 12mm f2.8 for sale please leave a comment before I strangle Bill. LOL. :) Just kidding Bill !!!

After a service of this long overdue lens by JA Coelho da Silva in Lisbon, I took it out for a test. I met Mr Silva personally when I collected my lens. Absolutely happy with the service, professionalism, knowledge and most of all the result. If you have problems with your equipment this is where you need to go in Lisbon. Mr. Silva has been in this field for over forty years after taking over from his father's camera repair business. Very highly recommended!

The bridge is in the village of Furtio, near the source of the Acharistskali River. The bridge formerly connected the old roads in Skhaltistskali Gorge to the central roads passing through Acharistskali Gorge, thereby providing the shortest caravan road from Ardagani and Akhaltsikhe to the Black Sea Coast. The bridge has suffered some deterioration. The length of the main part of the bridge is 13.5 m; the width is 2.35 m, and the height is 2.20 m. Tedo Sakhokia provides an interesting description of the bridge, highlighting the professionalism of the builders who chose rocky soil as the foundation for the heads of the bridge. He explains how this remnant of the past is still standing today.
Snowbirds
Officially known as the Canadian Forces 431 Air Demonstration Squadron.
The Snowbirds are Canada's military aerobatics or air show flight demonstration team whose purpose is to "demonstrate the skill, professionalism, and teamwork of Canadian Forces personnel.
The show team flies 11 CT-114 Tutors—NINE for aerobatic performances, including two solo aircraft, and two as spares, flown by the team coordinators.

Yesterday, we watched the new Thunderbirds documentary on Netflix. It highlighted the professionalism of the pilots, the science behind each maneuver, and the dangers involved. I’m looking forward to seeing them again in the next couple of years. This photo was taken during their visit to Canada in 2022.

Al-Qaysariyyah Market is a historical market located in Al-Ahsa, eastern Saudi Arabia. Al-Qaysaria market is located in the center of Hofuf city, on the western side of the central Al-Rafa neighborhood, and it opens directly on a wide street that cuts through the city center from north to south.
Al-Qaysaria was formed in 1822 AD during the Ottoman era, which is about rows of small, closely spaced shops located in closed corridors, and roofed according to the style used in Turkey, the Levant, and Iraq in the past, and then took its shape and final identity during the era of the founder King Abdul Aziz, where it was built According to the architectural style of the Al-Ahsa region. سوق القيصرية هو سوق تاريخي يقع في الأحساء شرق السعودية. ويقع سوق القيصرية وسط مدينة الهفوف، في الجهة الغربية لحي الرفعة الأوسط، ويُفتح مباشرة على شارع واسع يخترق وسط المدينة من الشمال للجنوب
تشكلت القيصرية عام 1822م في العهد العثماني والتي هي عبارة عن صفوف من الدكاكين الصغيرة، والمتقاربة تقع في ممرات مُغلقة، ومسقوفة وفق الطراز المعمول بِه في تركيا، وبلاد الشام، والعراق قديماً، ثم أخذت شكلها، وهويتها النهائية في عهد المؤسس الملك عبد العزيزحيث تم بناءه وفق الطراز المعماري لمنطقة الأحساء.السوق يصطف بِه أكثر مِن 400 دكان، على مساحة تُقدر بـ 15 ألف متر مربع، تتوزع المحال بين جزئين رئيسيين أحدهما الجزء الأكبر يمتد بين شارعي الخباز والحدادين، والثاني بين شارع الحدادين، وسوق الحريم (البدو)، وبذلك يُعد القيصرية أكبر سوق مسقوف في المملكة، والخليج العربي ويُعتبر سوق القيصرية معلم سياحي بارز ونموذجاً اقتصادياً لمحافظة الأحساء إذ أنه يقع بين مجموعة من معالم التراث العمراني التاريخي كقصر إبراهيم والمدرسة الأميرية أول مدرسة بالأحساء.تشكل القيصرية مقصداً لتموين العديد مِن الأسواق الخليجية خاصةً قطر والكويت والبحرين نظرًا لِقُربهم من الأحساء مِن الأرز، والتمور الأحسائية الشهيرة، حيث تُعد الأحساء أكبر واحة في العالم لزراعة النخيل، كما يضم السوق محلات العِطارة، التي تبيع الحلبة، والسدر، والج ريش، وحبة البركة (السويدة) دواء النزر والمرَة. كما تجده مُفعم بروائح البخور، والأعشاب، بجانب توفر الأرز الأحسائي المعطر المعروف لما له من قيمة غذائية عالية، والعديد مِن المنتجات التقليدية التي لا توجد إلا في هذا السوق. بجانب الحناء، والتوابل، والعطوروالكثير مِن المنتجات الإحسائية الخاصة، أو حتى التي كانت تُباع في السوق أو المستوردة مِن الهند والبحرين، وغيرها. ويتوافد على السوق زوار مِن مختلف مناطق المملكة، كما نقلت القيصرية العادات والإرث التقليدي عن طريق الحرف اليدوية والمهنية وكان يمثل أهمية كبرى لدى كبار السِّن وأهل الحشمة الذين لا يلبسون إلا الثياب المخاطة والمحاكة باليد، أمَّا بعضهم الآخر فكان يشتري ثيابا مخاطة بالماكينة التي جلبت إلى الأحساء في الخمسينات، وحياكة البشوت الحرفة التي عرفت بها الأحساء موطناً له منذ عقود التي اشتهرت على امتداد الوطن العربي منذ القدم ب «البشت الحساوي» ويطلب بكثرة خاصة من الآمراء والوزراء والعلماء ورجال الأعمال ووجهاء المنطقة ودول الخليج في دلالة على جودته ونوعيته التي ميزته عن بقية الصناعات المحلية والعربية والأجنبية بحسب ما يعبر به كثير من حاكة البشوت في الأحساء، منذ العصر الأول لظهور الإسلام، أقدم وصف للسوق ما قدمه الرحالة الإنجليزي ويليام بلجريف الذي زار مدينة الهفوف عام 1269هـ/1852م.

Officially known as the Canadian Forces 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, the Snowbirds are Canada's military aerobatics or air show flight demonstration team whose purpose is to "demonstrate the skill, professionalism, and teamwork of Canadian Forces personnel".[2] The squadron is based at 15 Wing, near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The Snowbirds are the first Canadian air demonstration team to be designated as a squadron.[3]
The show team flies 11 CT-114 Tutors—nine for aerobatic performances, including two solo aircraft, and two as spares, flown by the team coordinators. Approximately 80 Canadian Forces personnel work with the squadron full-time; 24 personnel are in the show team that travels during the show season. The Snowbirds are the only major military aerobatics team that operates without a support aircraft.[4]
The Snowbirds continue the flying demonstration tradition of previous Canadian air force aerobatic teams, which include the Siskins, the Blue Devils, the Golden Hawks, and the Golden Centennaires.

Ben and Will are two very affable and highly talented professionals and it was a pleasure to speak to them both, let alone listen to their music.
I photographed Ben whilst playing because it shows the passion and professionalism both he and Ben exhibit towards their music; they ARE their music, and I wanted to try and capture something of that. Photographed and published with Will's permission.

Although 431 Air Demonstration Squadron was formed in 1978, its history truly began during the Second World War when, as part of the Commonwealth contribution to aircrew for the war in Europe, 431 (Iroquois) Squadron Royal Canadian Air Force was created under the control of RAF Bomber Command.
Number 431 Squadron formed on 11 November 1942, at RAF Burn (in North Yorkshire), flying Wellington B.X medium bombers with No. 4 Group RAF Bomber Command. The squadron moved to RAF Tholthorpe in mid-1943 as part of the move to bring all RCAF squadrons into one operational group – No. 6 Group RCAF – and converted to Halifax B.V four-engined heavy bombers. In December 1943 the squadron moved to RAF Croft where it was re-equipped with Halifax IIIs and later, Lancaster B.X aircraft. The squadron moved to RCAF Station Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, after the war, disbanding there on 5 September 1945.

Many of you know Don Briggs by his phenomenal photography. Through the years, I grew to know the man as my dearest friend, though we never met in person.
Don used to post some of the most gorgeous photos of Maui, and our contact was limited to the usual comments until one day when Don messaged me, asking if I wanted a DSLR camera he wasn't using. I replied that I couldn't afford it, but Don said, "I didn't say anything about money. I have one I'm not using and thought you might like it." That is how the friendship started. Don was generous to a fault, and wanted to help whenever he could. He saw that I had promise, and he wanted to do something about it.
over the years, we began to communicate every day. we had a lot of personality traits in common, and we eventually became best friends, though I always felt he got the short end of the stick!
Through the years, this man had some close encounters with death, being diabetic and having some heart issues, but Don was strong and very independent natured, even driving himself to the hospital once after a stroke! I was beginning to think he would live to be 100. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
A few weeks ago, Don texted me that he'd had a heart attack. Right after that, I fell and broke my pelvic bone. Don used to say we were running a competition with our infirmities! From opposite sides of the country, we were both in hospitals or rehabs, but while I was mending, Don was not. One night he called me in the wee hours of the night, barely able to speak, saying how he was ready to go, and didn't want to live like that, unable to lead the life he wanted to live.
I began communicating with Ed, Don's stepson, who called me yesterday to tell me that Don had passed away at 2:40 A.M. West Coast time, January 9, 2025. I am devastated and heartbroken. Don was way more than a friend. He was family. No one will ever fill that gap, and I will miss him until I die.
This photo was one of Don's selfies that I post processed a long time ago. He said he liked the job I did. I wish I could have been as good of a photographer as he was, but few ever reach that level of professionalism.
I will miss our daily texts, but mostly I will miss this wonderful man that I never got to meet in person, but whom I grew to love dearly. I wish there were words to express what a wonderful person Don was, but there aren't. He would detest this tribute, but he's getting it anyway! Do yourself a favor and stop by Don's photostream. With the exception of last year (thanx to Covid!) every spring we are treated to the arrival of our fabulous Canadian Forces 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, the SNOWBIRDS are Canada's military aerobatics or air show flight demonstration team whose purpose is to demonstrate the skill, professionalism, and teamwork of Canadian Forces personnel . . . for two weeks they practice maneuvers before taking the "show on the road" . . . which means we are treated to these practice runs!! Shooting avec @anna.abstraction à #paris sur le pont des arts avec à l’arrière plan l’île de la cité et le square du vert Galant.
Érigé en hommage à Henri IV et à ses nombreuses maîtresses, Il est devenu l'un des lieux les plus prisés pour des balades romantiques où les amoureux profitent d'une magnifique perspective sur la Seine, le Musée du Louvre et l'Hôtel de la Monnaie.
Je recommande le lieux et Anna comme modèle pour son profesionnalisme et sa gentillesse.

Erected as a tribute to Henri IV and his many mistresses, it has become one of the most popular places for romantic strolls where lovers enjoy a magnificent view of the Seine, the Louvre Museum and the Hôtel de la Cash.
I recommend the place and Anna as a model for her professionalism and kindness.
Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal is a sacred place of immense Hindu spiritual energy located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. It is often regarded as the Nepali equivalent of Varanasi on the River Ganges. One notable aspect of this place is the open-air cremations that take place at the river's ghats. Despite the river's pollution, the site holds great sanctity. The cremations are conducted with a sense of professionalism, efficiency, and adherence to established rituals and procedures. However, within this businesslike approach, poignant moments of intense emotions are not uncommon - Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu, Nepal
To become a ship's captain you have to be a skilled mathematician, also competent in physics and many other skills. In my own time training as a Second Officer in the Merchant Navy I came to admire the professionalism of those Masters, "Old Men" as they were respectfully called. I was surprised how many I encountered who were raised in the Highlands and Islands, from tiny islands like Barra, wondering how they could attain such education standards in the 'simple' communities on the fringe of the Scottish Islands.
Entering the Ardnamurchan lighthouse stables I saw an interesting face. In fact I was more drawn to the significance of his blazer and cap badges that seemed vaguely familiar to me. Perhaps it has been so long but I should have recognised the Merchant Navy style I first stitched to my own uniform 45 years ago. But this gentleman turned out to have been a Captain, a Master Mariner, no less, serving 45 years at sea himself from the age of 16 and now retired for 30 years. Captain Peterson of the Ben Line was one of seven Master Mariners to be produced by just one family. That's some massive achievement, easily recognised by someone like me who only attained the training level of Second Officer. We chatted over old times pre-computerisation and satnav and days of astro-navigation, sun and star sights, spherical trigonometry, log haversines and sextants and the feeling ancient mariners get when they step on board for one last trip.
I just had to ask him for a casual portrait snap in the dim light inside the lighthouse.
She was clearly more nervous than usual, perhaps because there was a long line of spectators with cameras in front of her when I was filming this, but I also thought I saw her professionalism. I felt sorry for her, but also smiled.( *´艸｀)
