For "Looking close... on Friday!" . Them : "White".
Had an amazing experience having work done by an incredibly talented makeup artist / hair stylist.
Pic from last night’s trans support group. This is my “professional look”! I sent this pic to my wife and she responded by saying she thought “it’s the best I’ve ever looked”. Gotta love a vote of confidence like that!
There are so many great quotes I could have used for the title to this one that I just couldn't decide.
Anyways, a follow-up to my previous post where I listed off a boatload of Crime movies that I've recently watched and enjoyed, I mentioned that my favorite would get its own post.
And goddamn do I love this movie.
For those that aren't familiar, Leon: The Professional is a 1994 film directed by Luc Besson. It came about after positive reaction to a one-scene-wonder character called The Cleaner that appeared in another of his films Le Femme Nikita.
Leon: The Professional follows the titular Leon (Jean Reno), a simple-minded, lonely Italian Hitman in NY City and his day-to-day life, which is interrupted when he decides to harbor a twelve year old girl named Mathilda (Natalie Portman, literally twelve) after her parents and siblings are gunned down by corrupt DEA agents led by Stansfield (Gary Oldman). Mathilda, wanting revenge for her little brother's death, tries to hire Leon to train her in the art of "cleaning", which he initially refuses. Over the course of the film they develop a weird father/daughter relationship, and help each other get over their respective feelings of isolation.
Really, I can't go on enough about how much I dig this movie, it's one of, if not my number one all time favorite, running neck-and-neck with Terry Gilliam's Brazil (and probably The Blues Brothers. Heh.)
Anyways, I'm sure i'll be back to the typical Super Heroes/Sci-Fi shtick sometime soon, so stay tuned for that.
Until then, cheers folks!
A modern business headshot for a female professional.
Lit with a large rectangular softbox as key light and an eyelighter below. White cardboard as a fill, Striplight as a kicker and a strobe on the background for a nice and smooth gradient.
For those of you who like close ups, I think you will appreciate this image. It allows you to zoom in.
Taken on Friday, May 26, 2023, just in case you're wondering what I look like nowadays.
No photo shopping or Face App needed. I prefer a natural (albeit somewhat glamorous) look with un-retouched photos. So in other words, if you saw me at the mall, this is what you would see, minus the apron.
Rather than be detrimental, the Flea Market that was on when we visited Lublin Old Town added plenty more photographic opportunities.

From Wikipedia : "Lublin, by some tourists can be called "a little Krakow", and this is true by the citizens sharing a number of Lesser Poland traditions, historic architecture and a unique ambiance, especially in the Old Town. Catering to students, who account for 35% of the population, the city offers a vibrant music and nightclub scene. Lublin has many theatres and museums and a professional orchestra, the Lublin Philharmonic. Old buildings, even ruins, create magic and unique atmosphere of the renaissance city. Lublin’s Old Town has cobbled streets and traditional architecture. Many venues around Old Town enjoy an architecture applicable for restaurants, art galleries, clubs, apart from entertainment this area has also been designed to place small businesses and prestigious offices. The Old Town Hall and Tribunal in the Market Square is surrounded by burgher houses and winding lanes"

It looks like sitting on an old farm, but actually it is on a busy street (Chestnut) in Asheville and housing several offices.
A couple of website follow which are useful for learning more about what constitutes the so-called "Queen Anne Style" of architecture in the United States.

This black dress presents my most serious professional image.
Enough of that! It's the weekend. Yay!
This back-alley scene was photographed in Seattle, just minutes from the waterfront. During my editing process, I created a cinematic look from the past with glowing globes and a warm vibe.

I'm a stay-at-home mom. Every now and then people say something really stupid around me that makes me feel unappreciated. The most recent example is a fun one. I was told about a stay-at-home, homeschooling mother who is now "trying to make something of her life." What?!? The fact she raised and educated her kids doesn't count? Now that she's getting a "real job" she's making something of her life? Pft...
I am not saying that stay-at-home moms are never appreciated in society. I've heard people talk like that, and I don't agree. I've also cringed at some things said about women who choose not to have kids or get married. And it's not just about motherhood. I've seen many different professions disparaged. People in retail have it bad when it comes to being belittled. And I've learned you won't find respect as a small town photographer either.
I guess what I am saying is that people need to be appreciated once in a while and that it hurts to be unappreciated. An elderly lady was ahead of me at the grocery checkout a few weeks ago. When it was time for her to pay she told the cashier that she was doing an excellent job and that she appreciated her. The cashier's face lit up with joy and energy, and that glow lasted as long as I was there. Just a little bit of appreciation goes a long way. :)
Oh my goodness, I'm rambling! lol I'll stop now. :)

Cardiff Met Archers vs Oakland Wovles, Women’s British Basketball League (WBBL) match on Saturday 18th March 2023. Game played at the Archers Arena, Cardiff Metropolitan University, in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom, during the 2022-23 season.
About the photograph.
Seen in the middle and in the background is the Cardiff Met Archers player, Abigail Yunker in control of the ball, and attempting to dibble past, but two of the Oakland Wolves players (wearing white jersey and shorts) made their move towards her in the hope of blocking her.
Yunker had decided to pass the ball to her teammate Mara Marchizotti wearing jersey number 15, seen on the left side of the photo.
Yunker was born on 26th September 1998 in Whitehouse, Ohio in the United States.
The basketball game finished with the final score of Archers 80 – 73 Wolves.
Many special thanks to Cardiff Met Archers staff, for allowing me to take the photographs from courtside.
About the teams.
The Wales based Cardiff Met Archers started in 1999, as a university basketball team. They have about 19 different teams, range from Under-10s to Seniors, and men’s teams as well as women’s teams.
The women’s senior team (seen here in the photograph) is the only team in a top-level elite franchise-based league. They joined the Women’s British Basketball League when it was first set up in 2014, and to date, are still in the WBBL.
The Oaklands Wolves is an English women’s basketball team based at Oaklands College, in St Albans, Hertfordshire. It was founded in 2009, and started playing in the professional level women’s basketball team from the 2016-17 season onwards.
The Oakland Wolves also includes a men’s team in the second tier National Basketball League.
