Window lettering on an old shoe factory in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Finally i am finished with this painting. the heat had me movin slow so it took longer then expected to finished this piece but here it is, hot off the easel. Now its waiting to dry so that i can sign it and apply varnish to it. Once i am all done with that i will take up-close, high quality detail pictures of it.

...with this painting i documented my creation process step by step and put it into a set.

I wrote a blog chronicalling the creative process with this painting from the first rough sketch to the last brush stroke. read about it here: lucidrose.blogspot.com/

New camera...new software...new birds for spring! So many ways to work with a picture to try capturing the emotion of the moment. Challenging with trying to learn everything at once. I have yet to be satisfied with my results....but practice makes perfect and I have no problem with practicing :)

Working on a new music video project. It is probably going to change a bit over the next couple weeks so I want to keep an eye on the screen grabs that I like. I plan on showing it at FiTC on April 22nd. I will write a post about it after the project gets a little closer to completion.

Again, the main point of interest is that there will be no post-production. The entire thing is code driven. Every beat is manually input like in the Solar (Goldfrapp) video I posted a couple weeks back. Every single high-hat hit, every snare, every bass, the vocals, the guitar arpeggio... all of it was manually input. Took about 6 hours to input the data for the whole 5 minutes and 15 seconds of song. Maybe when musicians start releasing multiple tracks per song with isolated instruments, things will get a lot easier.

I love my Cuisinart Food Processor. It works really good and doesn't leak like my old Kitchen-aid one did!

The nearly 9000 acres of soybeans and rice will begin harvesting soon in rural Arkansas.

A very brief description of the process involved with creating an astrophoto. I created this graphic to give my non-astronerd friends a general idea of what is involved in AP, so for my astronerd friends this will seem rather silly ;)

This building, which I saw for the first time over a year ago, is nothing short of miraculous.

So perfect and intricate are its colorful and varying degrees of decay, the fabric disintegrated to threads, the papered-over windows water stained and peeling, the rusted hinges, the empty places where windows once were.

It stands alone in a neighborhood of big white houses. Like a frail, naked old woman in a room full of hapless people wearing white tee shirts and jeans. No one will look at her, but she is as beautiful as she is delicate.

Tools of the trade.

I've been really fortunate for getting projects I love. Spent a week in my studio creating graffiti tags and stencil illustrations for a big national client. Excited to share the work when it's done in a few weeks time. Stay tuned.
