As part of our ongoing commitment to tackling neighbourhood crime and making our city centre a safer place, a number of our teams carried out proactive operations targeting crime and anti-social behaviour in the area, leading to a total of 14 arrests.
Officers from the Town Hall Neighbourhood Team carried out a mixture of late-night policing operations, with both uniformed and plain-clothed officers, across the Chinatown area. This proactive operation led to six arrests, mostly in relation to the possession and supply of drugs.
As well as these arrests, officers executed multiple stop searches across the area as part of ongoing work to keep the community safe. This involved addressing loud music being played at late hours, tackling anti-social behaviour, and disrupting drug use in the area.
Our City Centre Neighbourhood Team also conducted proactive patrols across Piccadilly Gardens, leading to two arrests in connection with drugs and public order.
Sergeant Jack Lenihan-Smith from the Town Hall Neighbourhood Team said: "The city of Manchester hosts a number of activities throughout the day and is home to such exciting nightlife experiences.
"Our priority is you, and as you enjoy the day with family or friends, it is our focus to ensure you can do so safely. From the early hours of the morning, to the late hours at night, our officers are deployed across the city centre to protect you.
"Our work doesn't stop here and we will continue to proactively patrol these areas and work with local communities to ensure we are providing the protection you need. We encourage anyone who may have questions or concerns to please approach us, we're always happy to help."
Alongside the neighbourhood teams, Project Servator were deployed in the city centre throughout the week.
Project Servator are our dedicated team aimed at disrupting a range of criminal activity, while providing a reassuring presence for the public.
Across the week, they secured six arrests, demonstrating our continuous efforts to reduce criminality across Manchester and ensure resident and visitors can have an enjoyable and safe time.
Several of those arrests were wanted individuals, who were identified by our Live Facial Recognition technology, which was deployed to Piccadilly Gardens.
Sergeant Lee Keefe said: "These arrests showcase the impact of Project Servator. We are deployed across Greater Manchester and use highly visible and unpredictable tactics to disrupt criminal activity while providing reassurance to the public.
"We all play a role in the safety of our communities, and we ask people to stay vigilant, speak to officers, and report anything that doesn’t feel right. We will always listen and act on your concerns"

If the fire marshal ordered fire watch for your building, or you’re being proactive by seeking these services before an order is made, you’re probably curious what a fire patrol consists of.
Professional fire watch patrols include a variety of services that are designed to keep your property and those in and around it safe during times of vulnerability.
Types of Services Fire Watch Patrol Offer
There are a number of different types of sites that call for the professional services of fire patrol officers should any part of the fire alerting system malfunction. These include:
-Commercial Buildings
–Construction Site
–Special Events
-Hot Work
-Dispensaries
-And more
What Exactly Does a Fire Watch Patrol Consist Of?
This service is designed for properties, buildings and work sites that need protection from the dangers of fire during a time when their alarm, sprinkler, or water system is not functioning properly.
In absence of a working fire alarm and water protection system, trained guards can be positioned on-site to keep a vigilant eye over your property.
The services these professionals provide include:
Vigilant patrol on all floors of the building or areas of the property around the clock
Maintaining exits and walkways to ensure they are clear and free of obstructions
Immediate action and alerting in the case of a fire
Identification and reporting of any safety issues or concerns
Communication with all other guards, officers, and management on site
Recording of all activities and findings in a daily log
24 Hour Fire Watch
More often than not, the need for fire watch services is emergent in nature. No one plans for their alarm system to malfunction, after all.
The good news is that you have access to trained and qualified guards 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are guards on stand-by waiting for a dispatch call.
Per the fire marshal, state, and local regulations, if you have an unexpected failure of your fire alarm system, you are required by law to hire 24 hour fire watch services to keep the site protected against potential disasters.
These certified individuals are in charge of keeping an attentive eye on the site and recording all activities and findings in a dedicated fire log.
Where to Find Reliable Fire Watch Guards
The best place to hire certified and trained fire guards is from a licensed and insured security company. These companies will:
Have guards on standby ready for your call
Dispatch their guards quickly, efficiently, and have them ready for their patrol
Be fully trained on fire safety and how to maintain a proper fire log per the fire marshal
Be ready to work closely with local emergency services
Whether your need is short or long term in nature, planned, or the result of an unexpected emergency, you can rest assured that you have access to high quality, compliant fire patrol guards whenever you need them.
When it comes to fire safety, it’s vital that you take the necessary steps and precautions to make every attempt to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

Operation Vulcan is continuing to take action across the Brinnington area, with direct, proactive action to tackle criminality in its various forms across the area.
This has seen the officers deploy to addresses this week, executing early-morning warrants as part of ongoing disruption tactics to monitor and tackle suspected criminals.
The problem-solving team deployed to Brinnington in February, launching a multi-agency proactive effort to tackle crime and ongoing issues affecting residents.
Officers have secured more than 100 arrests, made over 200 stop-searches, seized dozens of vehicles and recovered illicit cash in excess of £100,000.
Among the other recoveries are tens of thousands of pounds worth of Class A and Class B drugs, in addition to 30 weapons – including four firearms.
This week’s work saw a warrant executed on Monday morning, with further intelligence gathered and safeguarding work conducted.

“Our efforts are not wavering however, and this week’s work continues to disrupt and tackle crime, reminding criminals that we are still there and ready to take action for the law-abiding residents of the area.
“I would urge anyone in Brinnington with any issues to get in touch with us. Your safety, welfare, and quality of life are all things we will do our absolute best to safeguard.”

Neighbourhood Policing officers carry out a warrant in Woodley, Stockport.
This week is Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action 2026, in which forces across the country are taking part in proactive action across their local communities.
Every single day, officers across Greater Manchester’s neighbourhood teams work to tackle issues that people want us to – from anti-social e-bikes to drug-dealing, shoplifting, and more.
In the last year, neighbourhood crime has been reduced by 15% across Greater Manchester – including in each borough – with significant reductions in Stockport (33%), Bury (30%), and Wigan (28%).
In the five years since Sir Stephen Watson joined GMP as Chief Constable, we have seen 600 fewer burglary victims each month, vehicle crime reduced by a quarter, and – across the force – a doubling of arrests, with 72,509 in the year up to April 2026.
Our proactive neighbourhood work contributes greatly to this overall figure, which sees dozens of warrants executed across the force each month, hotspot patrolling, problem-solving action, and more.
This week will see a spotlight on all manner of neighbourhood policing work. While securing arrests and investigating criminality will always take place where necessary, engagement work within communities is equally as vital to improving public confidence and tackling the root causes of crime.
This can take the form of community drop-in sessions such as our Police and Community Together (PACT) meetings, school visits, open days, business visits, charity partnership work, and more.
Throughout the course of the week, you can expect to see an increased police presence, who will all be more than willing to discuss any issues that you have.
Assistant Chief Constable Matt Boyle, GMP's lead for Local Policing, said: “Neighbourhood policing is a core component of our output across Greater Manchester. These are the officers who know their communities best, know the issues that face people, and are best-placed to tackle those problems in the most efficient way.
“As a force priority, we have delivered on ensuring each area has a named officer, while also securing an uplift of neighbourhood roles across our city-region. Plenty more will be completed in the coming months as we continue to invest in neighbourhood policing and preventative measures.
“This week shines a light on the fantastic work that they do – from the dedication and determination of problem-solving teams to acts of individual brilliance by officers in the thick of it.
“While this is just one-week, this is by no means a one-off. It is something that officers do day-in, day-out, not just here in Greater Manchester, but across the entirety of the UK.”
The people were very friendly, some too shy of the camera, some asked us specifically to take their pics :) .
They were kind enough to treat us to mangoes, and must admit they were yummy!
