Parental Leave, a key to prosperity – and other true stories
Together with UN Women, the Nordic Council of Ministers under Norway’s Presidency hosted a high-level discussion on policies promoting equal opportunities in working life, affordable child care, education and parental leave for all parents. 27 June 2022, Turin, Italy. – INNOVATION 4 CHANGE (I4C) DemoDay 2022 culminated today in a long-expected event that was launched at the historical site Castello del Valentino in Turin. The Kokorò team share information at their colorful stand.
The second part of the DemoDay took place at the Fondazione Agnelli, a short walking distance from the castle. At this location each team had a stand providing further information about the solution to their challenge. This was a great opportunity for each of the 10 teams to interact with the audience, answer questions, and showcase the various products created.
This year's winner was Team Ferrovie dello Stato Italiano, with their Greensect waste processing system. Second place went to Team UNICRI, while third place was shared by Team Movyon and Team CNH Industrial.
I4C is the main Impact Innovation program in Italy, organized by Collège des Ingénieurs, CERN IdeaSquare and Politecnico di Torino. Every year, I4C identifies 10 challenges with global impact, pitched by institutions and multinationals. To match these challenges, 10 multidisciplinary teams are selected to work on sustainable solutions and solve the challenge. They have five months to resolve the task and present their pitch. The teams are formed by MBA CDI students and one PhD student enrolled in various European universities, as well as storytellers from Scuola Holden.

The Poverty and Environment Network (PEN) is an international research project and network. Launched in 2004, PEN is the largest and most comprehensive global analysis of tropical forests and poverty. The study sites were chosen to obtain widely representative coverage of different geographical regions, forest types, forest tenure regimes, levels of poverty, infrastructure and market access, and population density. 21 September 2017, New York - In a high-level event organized by UN Women in the context of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, Melinda Gates, Co-Chair and Trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Jack Ma, Executive Chair of the Alibaba Group; and Nirvana Chaudhary, President of the Chaudhary Group and Chair of the Foundation, joined Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women for a strategic conversation on how collective action can scale-up opportunities for women and girls.
Today’s dialogue among a select group of business and foundation leaders focused on the transformative role that companies and foundations can play to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 5 on gender equality. It highlighted new initiatives, such as the Unstereotype Alliance convened by UN Women with major advertisers and communications industry leaders to promote a more realistic and aspirational portrayal of women; the “Making Every Woman and Girl Count” initiative to generate, prioritize and use gender data for evidence-based and targeted policies; and the Global Innovation Coalition for Change aiming to make innovation work for women’s empowerment.

Parental Leave, a key to prosperity – and other true stories
Together with UN Women, the Nordic Council of Ministers under Norway’s Presidency hosted a high-level discussion on policies promoting equal opportunities in working life, affordable child care, education and parental leave for all parents. The debate, moderated by journalist Femi Oke, aimed to highlight experiences from trade unions and the private sector. Panelists include: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Norway, Børge Brende (host), Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka (co-host), Minister for Foreign Affairs, Iceland, Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson, Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Spotify, Isa Notermans, General Secretary of International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) Sharan Burrow, and Director General of Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) Kristin Skogen Lund.
