Description on previous image. Thanks for the inspiration to "frame" this from the gorgeous works of Katherine (www.flickr.com/photos/blue-spirit/25059213732/in/faves-86...) and Holly (www.flickr.com/photos/hollycawfield/25138398171/in/datepo...)
~ previously posted in colour as 'close encounter' .. something about this particular image fills my heart with joy. I love images that express freedom.

They were taken riverside at Jardim do Ginjal (South bank of the Tagus River, facing Lisbon on the opposite margin).
The "UFO lights" in the sky are from a plane descending and making its final approach to land in Lisbon (from a time when there were still planes in the sky...). In the back you can see the bridge and Lisbon's lights.

On a previous post of Cape Espichel - “Gateway To Heaven” (www.flickr.com/photos/142581467@N05/49885571788/in/datepo...) I’ve presented a view of the Nossa Senhora do Cabo Church, namely of its façade and the lateral accommodation wings.
This view here is taken from the other side (after crossing the “magic gate” mentioned in that post), on the area immediately preceding the sea (on my back as I was taking this shot) that was also the subject of a previous post here covering the nearby lighthouse (www.flickr.com/photos/142581467@N05/49912818718/in/datepo...).
The buildings here are simple but beautiful and blend harmoniously with the raw and wild, desolate place, where giant waves crash against sheer, towering cliffs. Whom could ask for a more inspiring view?
From the 13th century onwards this spot has been a place of pilgrimage. Legend tells that Virgin Mary was seen there, riding a giant mule. The church – “Nossa Senhora do Cabo Church” (Our Lady of the Cape, protectress of fishermen) – was built in 1701 and is worth a visit, to admire the ornately finished interior, beautifully painted ceiling and experience the tranquillity of the place.

The previous picture was suddenly gone. That is why I posted it again. Sorry for all the people who had already responded and liked
On October 6th, 2016 a loaded Canadian National taconite train is just arriving at the Missabe yard in Proctor, Minnesota. – The second train parked in the background is limestone empties, which we had caught earlier this same day up near Culver (see my previous post of the CN 2027). ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©
A previously un-posted image taken at a hide deep in the forest during my trip to the Hortobagy region of Hungary.
Many thanks to everyone that takes the time to view and comment on my images - very much appreciated.

In the previous post, this Great Gray Owl (Strix nebulosa) was observed focusing on the snow covered ground below it, using its disked shaped face to pick up any sounds of movement under the snow cover. The bird appears to be in quite good shape so hunting must be successful for it despite the injury to its left eye. This shows that it is still a successful hunter despite its visual handicap of being reduced to one eye.
This bird was observed in the area of Opal, Alberta, Canada.

This photo was taken at the same location as the previous photo of Futami bay and port. This is a northwestward view from Denshinyama (電信山).
Smaller islands in the sea are Nishijima (西島), Hitomarujima (人丸島) and Hyoutanjima (瓢箪島) from left to right.
The straits, width of more or less 800m, is called Anijima Seto (兄島瀬戸) or the Anijima straits, which is beautifully blue but notoriously dangerous due to the fast current as observed in the photo.
A closer crop of the previous posting.

This beautiful male Redstart, perched over a river in Wales, was pausing to allow the female to exit the box before taking more food to their continually hungry chicks.

Happy Monochrome Monday!
A male Black Redstart. My previous image was the female for comparison.
Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fave my images.
After I captured the previous photo and was about to leave, I heard a magic word. Next to me stood two photographers, speaking in Hindi except for the words "Milky Way".
I asked "What about the Milky Way?" and was told it would be rising over the lake starting about 9pm.
Ahhhhh, we should stay, but yike, we were not dressed for the cold nor we ate dinner yet!
No matter, Milky Way rules!
Good thing I still have the note for Night Sky Photography on my phone (no cell signal) so I knew what settings to use.
PS: The photogs were brother and sister, their parents were sitting on the bench patiently waiting for them to finish their Milky Way photoshoot. They were visiting Canada from Australia for two weeks.
Our free-styling road trip is still going strong, we left Jasper/Banff and are heading west.
Wishing everyone a great day ahead, thanks for your visit!
The previous image would not be complete without a picture of the actual crab traps to go with the lines.
This image was taken a little later in the evening ... the setting sun was closer to the horizon and shedding a warm, orangey glow.
To keep it authentic, I've included the mast of the fish boat moored directly behind the nets.

I can't add much to the title. A morning glory plant, with small red-orange flowers. To see more about the site where it grows, go to my previous photo.
Isn't God a great artist? Thanks for looking.
We used today to dive into the history of the Danish West Coast visiting the Tirpitz Museum in Blavand as well as the open air museum of Nymindegab. I can highly recommend both locations for people who love to learn more about the life of our ancestors in previous centuries. Nymindegab, Jylland, Denmark

**I went back early yesterday morning for a few close-ups of the flower bed in my previous post… Wishing you a peaceful/beautiful day. ❧
I gave this shot from a previous visit to South Devon the nostalgic treatment as our aim to go back this year just didn't happen because of the severe weather conditions. I don't even know if the tractor was running but the tide was right in when we nipped over to Challaborough Bay and I was frozen anyway ......
After the previous post, this one came some time later. Now colored in pink, Mt. Baker was still visible from our beach side perch. This was as colorful as both the sky and mountain appeared, soon disappearing behind a vail of clouds.
In a few weeks, this beach will fill with tourists, those much needed for the local economy. However, according to those living in the area, it is unlikely any will witness this same sight.
Compared to the previous photo this is lower down the valley and spring is more advanced. The weather was also warmer with some light sun.
At this point the track is part of the Bewerley Industrial Heritage Circular Trail. The trail explores nearly a thousand years of lead mining history while also offering splendid views of the beautiful Nidderdale area.
This track also leads to what was Ivin Waite Farm which is now described as a fully-modernised farmhouse with panoramic views over Nidderdale, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
On the horizon, over the end of the stone wall is Blazefield. Blazefield is situated nearby to a lime kiln, and close to Hollin Hill Wood
I was just thankful that upon closer inspection, the unattached appendage did not have an opposable thumb.
Caracaras are members of the falcon family but are mostly carrion eaters, more similar to a vulture, which, coincidentally, may be the previous owner of the lost limb based on appearance. Seen at Quintana Beach near Freeport, Texas.
Culzean Castle was constructed as an L-plan castle by order of the 10th Earl of Cassilis. He instructed the architect Robert Adam to rebuild a previous, but more basic, structure into a fine country house to be the seat of his earldom. The castle was built in stages between 1777 and 1792. It incorporates a large drum tower with a circular saloon inside (which overlooks the sea), a grand oval staircase and a suite of well-appointed apartments.
In 1945, the Kennedy family gave the castle and its grounds to the National Trust for Scotland (thus avoiding inheritance tax). In doing so, they stipulated that the apartment at the top of the castle be given to General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower in recognition of his role as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe during the Second World War. The General first visited Culzean Castle in 1946 and stayed there four times, including once while President of the United States.

I've been going through old photos, especially in folders from 2015. Why 2015? No significant reason other than looking for something led me there and I got stuck in.
I came across the previously posted to Flickr version of this. My tastes in editing have changed and I didn't like how saturated and contrasty the previous version looked.
This version I like much more.
While taking the previous shot I realised that sunrise was further out of shot than I was expecting, so moved down to the Seine to capture it peeping out from the base of the tower. It was so different to see it at this time of day, with only one couple to share the view!
The previous day's quick moving storm coated the dead tree with snow, which caught my eye just before the sun came up. 12-christopher-thomas.pixels.com/

Our previous Vas'ka (1992-2008) was a coward, he never could jump on the table (as the present cat does) and no one except me could pat him... That was a rare case he tried to move the cheese

Going through some previous photos, since I haven't been out in recent months. These were just a few of the Avocets in summer garb, enjoying a morning stroll and dip together at the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, Gilbert, AZ. March 2020
My Previous post was a male Red Crossbill. This is a male White-winged Crossbill taken at the same location three days later.
