Preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and creating the conditions for nuclear disarmament are at the center of discussions at the United Nations in Geneva this week as parties to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty gather for NPT Prepcom 2018. “This meeting provides the opportunity reflect on our common interests in maintaining the Treaty, on our shared responsibility to strengthen the NPT regime in all its aspects…” said Dr. Christopher Ford, Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Non-Proliferation at the opening plenary. “An effective nonproliferation regime is also a key element in building security conditions conducive to progress on nuclear disarmament.”

La protection du littoral face au risque de submersion marine représente un défi majeur pour l'agglomération rochelaise. Au regard des conséquences de la Tempête Xynthia de 2010, trois Programmes d'Actions de Prévention des Inondations (PAPI) ont été mis en œuvre.
Chaque secteur de l’Agglo bénéficie de protections adaptées, en fonction de la configuration des lieux et de l’importance de ce qu’il y a à défendre.
A Port-Neuf, à La Rochelle, le chantier, qui a été engagé fin 2019 pour une durée de 2 ans, est envisagé de manière à garantir un bon niveau de protection tout en ayant un impact modéré sur le paysage et une emprise raisonnable.

O sábado foi de atendimento gratuito à população do Itapoã com o projeto Vila Sesc Mais Saúde. Os atendimentos aconteceram das 9h às 15h deste sábado e continuam amanhã, no mesmo horário. Estão sendo realizados exames preventivos para as mulheres, consultas médicas e testagem de covid-19. A expectativa é que 5 mil pessoas sejam atendidas no local nos dois dias. A vila está montada no Ginásio Poliesportivo 61, ao lado do Restaurante Comunitário. O projeto estará ainda, nos dias 24 e 25 de outubro, no Riacho Fundo 1.

John Baron MP attended a Parliamentary reception in the House of Commons, organised by Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, for the launch of their new report, Preventing Babies’ Death: what needs to be done. 6,500 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every year in the UK. The charity’s report proposes that 1,200 babies’ lives could be saved every year through a combination of more research, better care and greater awareness of the risks of stillbirth and newborn baby death.
