Nigel does explanation graphics. He graduated from The Royal College of Art in 1966, and worked as a freelancer for newspapers and magazines in England until 1977, when Walter Bernard hired him to work at Time Magazine in New York.
As Graphics Director of Time, his pictorial explanations of complex subjects gained him many imitators and a few academic enemies. To this day he remains committed to the power of pictures and humor to help readers understand abstract numbers and difficult scientific concepts.
After 16 years, Time gave him a sabbatical, and he never went back. Now he has his own company, which has explained things to and for a wide variety of clients, including Apple, Fortune, Nike, The Smithsonian Institution, Sony, United Healthcare, US Airways and Visa, and he continues to do graphics for publications such as Harper’s, The New York Observer and The New York Times.
He’s written six books on aspects of information design. The latest, Nigel Holmes on Information Design, is a book-length interview with Steven Heller. It was published by Pinto Books in May 2006. Wordless Diagrams, from 2005, has been published in Chinese and Swedish editions as well as the original English (although since there are no words, translation was no problem!)
With his son, Rowland, he makes short animated films. Clients have included Fortune, The TED conferences and the Markle Foundation.
He has lectured in India, Japan, Brazil, Singapore, and all over Europe and the United States.
Mingle Media TV and our Red Carpet Report team were invited to cover GBK’s Luxury Gift Lounge honoring the nominees and Presenters of the 2015 Emmy Awards at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills Hotel.
Guests were treated to gifts and refreshments at this tented event and were entertained by music from GoodBoy. Guests also got into the “green screen” action at the Foto Spark green screen photo booth taking and sharing fun photos and animated GIFs.

Ideum recently exhibited at the Museum Computer Network conference in Minneapolis. We demonstrated our Presenter 42 touch wall and Pro 55 multitouch table.
We also shared applications we worked on with Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
Ideum CEO and Creative Director Jim Spadaccini also gave a presentation with Dan Davis of Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian about the Inka Road project.
Giles Duley is a photographer, writer and presenter, born in 1971 in London. His work focuses on the long-term humanitarian impact of conflict. Most recently, he filmed the television series One Armed Chef with Vice, where he visits locations impacted by war, including Ukraine, Lebanon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, cooks with the families he meets, and listens to their stories.
Starting his career as a music photographer, Duley worked with the likes of Mariah Carey, Oasis and Lenny Kravitz for publications including Q, Vogue, Sunday Times and Elle.
In 2004, Duley changed his focus to documentary work, partnering with well-respected charities such as HI (Humanity and Inclusion), EMERGENCY, Save the Children and UNHCR to highlight lesser-known stories deserving of public attention and action. Although documenting challenging, and at times, horrific situations, Giles captures the strength of those who fight adversity rather than succumb. His photographs draw the viewer to the subject, creating intimacy and empathy for lives differing from ours only in circumstance.
His work has taken him to Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, DR Congo, Angola, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, Colombia, Vietnam and Nigeria among others.
In 2011, whilst working in Afghanistan, Duley was severely injured by an IED. As a result of his injuries he is a triple-amputee. In 2012 he returned to Afghanistan to continue his work as a photographer.
Duley is also CEO and Founder of the NGO Legacy of War Foundation. A core part of the project is collaborations with other artists and writers to reach a wider audience. These collaborations have included the musicians Massive Attack and PJ Harvey. He is a campaigner for the rights of both refugees and those living with disability caused by conflict.
In 2019 he was awarded the prestigious Amnesty Media Award for Photojournalism.

Ryan Tubridy (born 28 May 1973), nicknamed "Tubs",is an Irish broadcaster, a presenter of live shows on radio and television in Ireland. Only in his forties, he is one of the youngest presenters on Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), and is the one who earns the most.
Current host of long-running TV chat programme The Late Late Show and a weekday morning radio show called Tubridy, Tubridy was a pioneering member of the Twitterati before he departed in August 2011.
Tubridy previously presented RTÉ 2fm breakfast radio show The Full Irish, which at its end was the second most popular[citation needed] radio programme in Ireland. For five seasons from 2004 until 2009, he presented the Saturday night TV chat show Tubridy Tonight on RTÉ One. He later left RTÉ 2fm for a number of years to present weekday morning radio programme The Tubridy Show on RTÉ Radio 1, but returned to RTÉ 2fm in 2010 to present his current weekday morning radio show from 09:00 to 11:00, following the termination of The Gerry Ryan Show with the presenter's sudden death. He has also hosted the Rose of Tralee contest on two occasions.
As part of a two-book deal with HarperCollins—and in a nod to his passion for U.S. politics—Tubridy penned JFK in Ireland, a profile of U.S. President John F. Kennedy's 1963 visit to Ireland. He is currently working on a second book.
