Of the few presenters who use appropriate images (as opposed to clipart or bullet points-only slides), a large fraction doesn't highlight the main point of the image.
Here's an example of what I usually do: desaturate and darken the unimportant parts.
The photo I'm using is not my recommended way to show a magazine cover; I would generally scan it and present just the cover matted against black background. This photo of me holding a magazine was for a tweet about impulse shopping during lunchtime.
Even though it was meant for the internet, I still thought it a good idea to take the extra 5 minutes to edit this photo. Why? Because it's good practice to do things right even when it apparently wouldn't matter. Excellence is not an outcome, it's a trip at the very least, and mostly it's an attitude.

On voit régulièrement des façades revêtues de planches rabotées fixées à distances régulières sur un lattis. C’est un système ouvert. Cela signifie que la pluie et l’humidité peuvent entrer en contact direct avec le pare-vapeur fixé derrière le bardage. En outre, lors du montage, des exigences particulières doivent être respectées pour parvenir à une pose parfaitement étanche.
Free Willy est un système fermé. D’un point de vue esthétique, l’aspect est le même qu’avec un système ouvert, mais la paroi est fermée grâce au système de rainures et languettes. Le bardage est muni d’une ligne fraisée qui permet à l’installateur de voir immédiatement où planter les clous pour qu’ils soient invisibles.
La ventilation d’un revêtement de façade en bois est essentielle. C’est pourquoi, tous les 30 cm, le bardage dispose d’ingénieuses ouvertures de ventilation invisibles. Ces ouvertures ne laissent pas pénétrer l’eau de pluie…
Free Willy est proposé en Western Red Cedar (cèdre rouge) abouté en longueurs de 3,05 et 6,10 m, de 40 mm d’épaisseur x 60 mm de large (recouvrement utile). Le cèdre rouge est une essence particulièrement stable et durable, idéale pour ce type d’application. Autres essences sur demande.
