On the Continent, for some reason they call them ‘frisée’ which means curly? Mmmm

The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, known in the East as The Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple, is a liturgical feast celebrated on November 21 by the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and some Anglo-Catholic Churches.

Церква в ім'я преподобних Антонія та Феодосія Печерських трапезної палати Києво-Печерської лаври.
В колекціі Заповідника. є низка фотографічних скляних негативів із зображеннями ікон, створених Георгієм Івановичем Поповим на початку ХХ ст. для церкви Прпп. Антонія та Феодосія з Трапезною палатою Києво-Печерської лаври. 1908 р. художник написав 24 ікони на мідних пластинах для іконостаса (встановлені у лютому 1910 року), шість – для заклиросних кіотів храму, а також дві великі ікони для мозаїчних кіотів у палаті. Роботи І. Г. Попова зафіксовано на скляних фотопластинах, вірогідно, у проміжку між завершенням створення й встановленням у іконостас.

“Ікона “Введення у храм Пресвятої Богородиці” – посвячення людини Богові та благословення. Введення Марії у храм, або Представлення, можна назвати богородичним святом-предтечею.
Центральні образи в іконі празника – батьки Анна та Йоаким, первосвященик і пророк Захарія, діви-свічоносиці та сама Богородиця.
Іконографія свята головно ґрунтується на апокрифічному Євангелії від Якова, яке, власне, описує саму подію введення Марії до храму та подає історію про її чудесне народження у сім’ї Йоакима та його дружини Анни, яку вважали безплідною.
Центральна постать в іконі – це сама Богородиця, яку, стверджує апокриф, батьки віддають до храму згідно з обітницею у трирічному віці, «щоби батька і матері не шукала».

“Головне мистецтво в храмі – живопис. У Трапезній це, в першу чергу, кілька десятків ікон в іконостасі й кіотах, які створював Г.І. Попов. Написані на металі, вони є найбільш традиційним, канонічним елементом інтер’єрного декору. Їх мазок гладкий, а лики – благообразні.
У стінопису Трапезної манера Георгія Івановича Попова зримо відрізняється від манери усіх його колег – цей майстер має і свій почерк, і власний стиль.
Відомо, що всі ікони для іконостаса та кіотів Трапезної церкви написав саме Г.І. Попов. Він працював у Лаврі з 1894 року і близько 16 років розписував інтер’єри лаврських споруд, серед яких відомі великі картини розпис вівтарної апсиди у Трапезній церкві та розпис великих кіотів у тій же церкві.
Сюжетні композиції Трапезної палати й церкви під час виконання були «поділені» на дві частини: половина сюжетних розписів належить його колезі Їжакевичу, інша половина – пензлю Попова.
Попов взяв на себе виконати весь живопис у вівтарі і чотири ніші у головному квадраті храму, у Трапезній написати «Спасителя, який сидить на хмарах», нижню частину плафона «Піднесення панагії», «Христа в Еммаусі» і «Чудесний лов риби».
Найперші настінні композиції або, як їх називали, картини інтер'єрного ансамблю Трапезної - "Чудо в Еммаусі" і "Чудо на Тиверіадському озері", створювалися Г. І. Поповим у 1903 році.»

Yesterdays posting was based on soft & subtle as well lethal. I think I can say the same for this one but add pastel into the description. I do love detail but at the same time I love out of focus and I think this does each. The overall of an image is important but at the same time I like to explore the “images” within total image. The graduated soft tones of color and light, sometimes the texture as well shape and line. When I view anyone’s image I like to do this, it tells me what the artist was thinking and why they did what they did for a final presentation. Anything short of seeing it all is not fully enjoying the art.
The only processing I did was lower the vibrance, remove my usual sensor dust spots and sharpen a little, other than that it’s as shot.
Although this coral, is nothing to write home about, I thought I would share it anyway. I find the composition quite pleasing, with a nice dappled light coming from the surface, late in the afternoon.
I took the same coral a minute later, when the sun had just disappeared behind clouds and all magic had disappeared.
We once were invited along as a restaurant reviewer did his secret review of a pricey establishment. We weren't allowed to touch the food until he had dictated comments into the hidden recorder in his sleeve about the "presentation" of the food on each plate. In this photo, the presentation was good. My compliments to the chef, a.k.a. Mother Nature.
I made this as a presentation to my genetics professor. She was so impressed by the craftsmanship, that she hardly noticed how little I knew.
All the bases are colour-coded and at the bottom there is a nucleotide model with phosphate group (P), sugar (S) and base (B) marked. The pyrimidines and purines are distingueshed by the lighter/darker gray part. The model represents the B configuration, but can be reworked, although with much effort, into any other. I would enjoy keeping this built forever, but sadly it literally only uses my favourite pieces (minus the baseplate).

One of four photos taken at yesterday's Junior Carnival, aka Kiddie's Carnival.
Junior Carnival is an annual parade that gives children the opportunity to celebrate Caribbean culture and share it with their community.
Young masqueraders dance through the streets in their brightly coloured costumes. This parade, similar to the Carnival is made up of a series of band leaders displaying costumes in competition.
"The Junior Carnival and Family Day event provides its audience and the surrounding community of Malvern the opportunity to experience the cultural presentation of young performers as they participate in their earlier years. "

This early Smith & Wesson rimfire revolver is engraved, "Capt. S.F. Willard presented by the Scranton Guards." Capt. Willard died at Antietam 9/17/1862 (see flic.kr/p/MdTM4J). The revolver carries serial number 3346 on the butt and has patent dates of 4/3/1856, 7/3/1859 and 12/18/1860 on the revolver drum. According to www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category4_..., "In 1856 Smith & Wesson formed their second partnership to produce a small revolver designed to fire the Rimfire cartridge they patented in August of 1854. This revolver was the first successful fully self-contained cartridge revolver available in the world. Smith & Wesson secured patents for the revolver to prevent other manufacturers from producing a cartridge revolver - giving the young company a very lucrative business."

The fixation between the module and the Delta-7 is actually pretty weak.
The Delta-7 would break under his weight if it was just hanged by its nose, and the tiles prevent a good fixation. So I decide that it should be the ring that will rests on the starfighter.
But again because of the tiles the only fixation I could make was under the nose. We can see the two only studs on this picture.
So the whole thing can only be taken by the Delta-7.
La fixation entre l'hyperdrive et le Delta-7 est pas géniale.
A cause du design du nez du starfighter une fixation solide était exclu, j'ai donc décidé que ce serait l'anneau qui reposerai sur le Delta-7.
L'hyperdrive est juste posé sur le dessus, pour fixer les deux il n'y a que deux tenons (qu'on peut voir sur la photo).
La manipulation se fait donc uniquement par le Delta-7, pareil pour un éventuel support de présentation.
De toute façon vu la géométrie l'ensemble basculerait si on le posait sur l'anneau d'hyperdrive.

While my presentation was original, most of this outfit is secondhand. The only new items were the bag strap and tights.
I love it that I can find secondhand clothing that I’m proud and happy to wear. I stood up in front of a crowd today to deliver a presentation and felt like a million bucks.
