One of the things I love about male Tibetan Mastiffs is their presence. This boy just has it.

(patrice)

—————

Werner Herzog, a great filmmaker, once said that "the universe is monstrously indifferent to the presence of man" ... .If he is right, it is from this small house lost on the shores of the Magdalen Island in Quebec, that I would like to see the universe not give a damn about me! (Patrice)

Kasanga, an African lion, captured in low key at the Big Cat Sanctuary, Kent

It is the presence of milky fog that allows me to control the scenography here and emphasize the depth of the scene.

For a separate the foreground and theatrical backdrop as much as possible.

With a closed aperture, which is necessary here, this can be done with only a few tricks.

For example, in cinema we used pyrotechnics - the effect of smoke and spotlights.

in general, I am satisfied with the result of the picture, given that it is from a boat that rocks and floats with the current, and the stream moves along the bridge. A kaleidoscope in one word, changing rhythms every second..

- just have time to compose your composition !

BE PRESENT TO THE WORLD

I filled up with naivety,

The one that brings us closer to the first evidences,

Natural beauties.

And I set off on the trails of the great prairies, without a specific project,

Except that of assuming my presence in the world.

Here, the wind, free from all hindrances

Makes hear a white noise that sucks us into it.

At nightfall, the unequaled immensity of the starry sky transports the observer to another dimension... inhuman, elusive, marvellous, and cosmic.

Confronted with the non-human, we become small and questioning: “And if we were alone? Seen from there, what are we? Is there, in us, a memory of our origins?

I could have crossed ancient forests, going along the ocean shores…

Everywhere, natural beauty generates a physiological and metaphysical experience that penetrates the consciousness, through all the senses...

…Making it more “present” to the natural world, this capacity atrophied by the artificial universe that modernity has erected.

By themselves, these experiences won’t change what’s wrong on this planet.

But they could change the way everyone understands the issues and responds to them in good conscience. *

A large monolithic presence rises from the ground, in a play of lights, reflections and fades.

The representation of power that takes shape in action, of consciousness that flows into knowledge, in a symbolic dialogue between thought and evolution.

DSC_1800 - LRC

DESCRIPTION:

The picture show the comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan Atlas.

Despite the presence of a slight haze and some low clouds, the image clearly shows the comet with its long tail and the anti-tail, characteristic of this comet.

While the tail is formed by light gases ejected from the comet and pushed by the solar wind in the opposite direction to the sun, the anti-tail is formed by heavier debris that the comet leaves along the way. They therefore trace the comet’s trajectory and, under particular perspective conditions, appear as a straight trail in the direction of the sun.

The photo was taken from the eastern side of Mount Etna, at about 1800m altitude.

Although the birds have left, and the fish have sunk deep in the pond, I can't be fooled by this silence. Even if my eyes insist I'm alone -- I've got this feeling that someone else is here.

Was a priviledge as always to be in their presence.

It is imperative we preserve our old growth forests before we lose this endangered and magnificent bird forever.

They need old growth forests to support all their life stages and especially because they eat almost entirely a diet consisting of Northern Flying Squirrels.

The birds in BC are basically extirpated with a captive breeding program that was doomed to fail from the start.

WA did a better job of managing the logging of old growth forests and conserving this bird but still are battling with the increasing population of Barred Owls. Barred Owls take over the territory of Spotted Owls and push them out of an area causing them to ultimately starve and perish. We can't blame the Barred Owls as we paved their way over here. The Barred Owls have also displaced and killed off many Western Screech-Owls. In Vancouver and the Lower Mainland we no longer have Screech-Owls due to development and Barred Owls.

Seeing these owls is always a treasure but along comes with it sadness that it may be the last time I see that particular bird or even species. Each year they seem to continually decline at a rate of 7% per year and population estimates in WA are around 200 birds.

We must do all we can to prevent this owl from disappearing from the little remaining old growth forests we have left if not the forests will be a far darker place.

On a happy note seeing this species a few days ago put an end to my North American Owl Big Year. I never set out to do a big year but due to travel and circumstance I was able to see all 19 species of naturally occurring owls in NA (excluding Mexico) in 12 months.

Getting Back to the Spotted Owls it was fantastic to see them and to see a few juveniles which give us all hope for the future. These owls do not reproduce every year so to see 2 healthy, curious babies you need to be greatful. They have a long hard road ahead and I wish them all the success and luck in the world... they are going to need it.

🇬🇧 Stillness and presence.

In the quiet frame of a monastery door, a man stands — priest, guardian, or passerby — caught in the space between silence and sound, shadow and sun.

This is not a portrait. It’s a threshold.

The blurred line between vocation and solitude. Between faith and the world outside.

Undaunted by the presence of people, this lively bird sometimes will swoop down and pluck out a human hair to use for its nest. It is intelligent and may even learn to eat food out of a human hand. Adapted to wooded residential areas with large shade trees and to bird feeders and nesting boxes.

During my visit at MoMa I found myself in very large spaces that impressed me much more than the museum itself.

From a wing of the building it was possible to see through small windows this flight of stairs that have become for me the real attraction of the museum.

I waited several minutes for the passage of some visitors who could give movement to the scene and suddenly there it is...
