Predator Ultimate City Hunter

A tiny spider (crab spider?) has just caught and is devouring a much larger hoverfly. It is astounding how such a small spider can catch, kill and devour such a large insect.

Taken with a Raynox DR250 macro lens on my Canon SX20IS camera. The spider was so engrossed in its meal that I was able to rotate the flower it was sitting on so that the creatures were in direct sun.

Spider in macro photography. This small (3 cm) host is often leaving two little vampire holes in the morning but rather prefer to eat smaller preys like mosquitos... We're not that friends though!

The legendary character, the Predator, that made of LEGO bricks in the BrickHeadz style.

A model of the Predator from the film series. The height is 33 cm excluding the lance; if the Predator is about 2 metres tall, that makes the scale about 1:6. The basis is a vinyl kit from Thailand. The lance is mainly scratchbuilt from steel rod. The dreadlocks are made from Sculpy Superflex. Paints are acrylics and Humbrol metallic steel.

A predator is a predator no matter what its size.

If you have Purple Martins or any other type of nesting birds a predator guard in highly advised. Two years ago I had 3 nesting pairs of Purple Martins, a 3 foot long Rat Snake climbed the pole and took up residence in one of the gourds. The adults abandoned the colony and the uneaten babies died. I purchased this guard, however if you are a bit handy you can purchase some 6 or 8 inch rigid duct, like used in heating and air systems, cut a piece of wood I.E. 2X4 to the appropriate length, equal to the diameter of the duct, use a hole saw slightly smaller than the diameter of your post to cut a hole in the wood then drill two holes through board so you can you two long screws to through bolt it or you could simply use long wood srews to hold the tw halves tightly to the post after the wood is cut lengthwise, a few screws and some 1/4 inch mesh over the top and you have a predator guard for a few dollars.

Please protect your nesting birds. I even place duct around the feeder post to keep the cats out of the feeder.

If this is a confussing at it seems let me know and I will take some photos of how to make the pieces.

Hope this is of some help,

Jim

I've drawn the predator a lot in the past, so I decided to draw him now. He looks a lot better than in my previous drawings.
