Ladybird larva attacks a yellow aphid from behind to avoid it's formidable pointy mouthparts. Oxley Creek, QLD.
A picture on an info plaque of the Smilodon skull found at the Fairmead Landfill. Predator remains are much rarer than herbivores and skulls are even rarer. This skull may not be as complete or well preserved as ones found in the La Brea Tar Pits but i would argue that it's much more valuable. First off, it's from the Irvingtonian (~700,000) years ago, whereas the ones from La Brea are from the Rancholabrean (40,000 to 10,000 years ago). This skull is much older, from a time when Smilodon fossils are scarce. Having this skull means we gain a better picture of saber-tooth evolution. Secondly, Rancho La Brea, while extensive and well preserved, is just one site. Even if it were contemporary with the Faimead Landfill, this skull would still be very important because you can't let one site speak for the whole of the continent. Animals exhibit regional variation due to such factors as climate, habitat, food availability, etc. Saber-tooths in one area may differ from saber-tooths in another but we won't know how if we just focus on one site and assume all other populations were like it. So this skull, while not the best one ever found, is a priceless piece of the prehistoric puzzle.

These pictures were all taken at Dragon*Con 2012, which I attended with a friend of mine, Matt Refghi. While there, I hosted a few interviews, and they can be found on my blog.
