Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is a subspecies of tiger found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Genetic testing has revealed the presence of unique genetic markers, which isolate Sumatran tigers from all mainland subspecies.[2] About 400-500 wild Sumatran tigers were believed to exist in 1998, but their numbers have continued to decline.[3] According to the RSPB in March 2008 there were approximately 300 Sumatran Tigers remaining in the wild.
The Sumatran tiger is the smallest of the tiger subspecies as compared to the Siberian tiger which is the largest.
Sumatran male tigers average 8 feet (2.438m) in length from head to tail and weigh about 265 lbs.(120.2 kg). Females average 7 feet (2.134 m) in length and weigh about 200 lbs (90.718 kg).
The smaller size of the Sumatran tiger makes it easier to move quickly through the jungle. Also, their stripes are narrower than other tiger species. The tiger's patterned coloring is an adaptation for camouflage in their natural habitat, which is often tall grass. The males, especially, have a more bearded and maned appearance in which neck and cheek hair are well developed.
Webbing between their toes, when spread, enables the Sumatran tiger to be a very fast swimmer. It will, if given the chance, run hoofed prey, who are much slower swimmers, into the water.
The white spots on the back of tiger's ears are called "eye spots" or "predator spots." These spots are believed to function as false eyes as well as to make it look larger to any predator approaching from behind. This is particularly helpful in keeping cubs safe.
Sumatran Tigers commonly prey on larger ungulates like Wild Boar, Malayan Tapir, and deer, and sometimes also smaller animals such as fowl, monkeys, and fish. Orangutans could be prey, but since they spend a minimal amount of time on the ground, tigers rarely catch one. Sumatran tigers will sometimes prey upon mice and other small mammals when larger prey is scarce.

The Predator is our run’n’gun stability kit for the Canon C100, C300 and C500*. The fixed LCD screen of the C100 camera particularly lends itself to this compact, simple kit. It is perfect for fast paced shoots and lightweight set ups.
The Predator starts with our Gorilla Baseplate. The rest of the framework attaches via a vertical post that connects to the underside of the plate via a quick-release ratcheting lever. A tripod plate can be installed under the Gorilla Baseplate via standard ¼ 20” and 3/8 16” screw holes. The Gorilla Plate has a 15mm port on the side to attach an accessory arm like the Standard Mount for our EVF. It also has two lightweight threaded rod ports on the front. You can add rods to hold a follow focus or mattebox.
The Predator includes an adjustable gunstock on a ball joint that can settle comfortably into the shooters chest to create a solid brace. The ‘handle’ portion of the Predator is ourC100/300 Grip Relocator. The Canon removable camera grip attaches directly to our Grip Relocator handle and our exclusive cable connects to the port on your camera. Once its plugged in, users have trigger or on/off control, lens aperture control, and a programmable function button that can be set to a number of things including waveform, 1 to 1 zoom, zebras, my menu, and many more. The cable is 24" long.
C100 Users: We recommend the Predator be used with our C100 Z-finder directly on the camera LCD. Our Z-finder will magnify the screen, cut out the light, and has a diopter to adjust for any eyesight issues. It also gives the user one more point of stability. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new product!
*The Predator can be used on the C500 but you must have a C100/C300 grip for this kit to work.
- My heart races. I suck in my breath and stare at the fallen heap before me. It’s small, a shapeless lump of black slumped across the ground. I edge in closer, watching for movement. There is none. I nudge the carcass with the barrel of my rifle. As it rolls over I hear myself gasp in horror. Across the pale white face of the beast, a maniacal smile is stretched in a dreadful rictus.
It’s a man. I have just killed a man... -

On defense…
Took this using 2 small red LEDs. Didn't set up any actual lighting, diffusers, etc. Just some natural room lighting and LEDs for spots. Had the figure and the backdrop in my lightbox.

The Predator is our newly designed rig for the Canon C100 that offers three points of contact with one being our Grip Relocator. The Grip Relocator positions Canon’s grip on the C100, C300 to the Zacuto handgrip to easily control the camera without removing your hand from the rig. With this rig, we recommend using a Z-Finder, optical viewfinder, for the C100 camera. Coming soon!
