An Egyptian statue of a praying man - made of greywacke and dated to around 650-500 B.C. (which is quite old, of course, but when it comes to classic Egypt, that is rather late, some 500 years AFTER the end of the New Kingdom. And as my dear father-in-law, who used to teach classical history at university, always pointed out to his students: a year back then was just as long as a year is now. And yes, long before I even knew his son, he was one of my university professors).
From an unknown find-spot - now on display at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen.

Back at home again, probably gonna stay for awhile, although the "wildlife" activities have slowed down a lot with Fall just around the corner. I find this to be one of the more endearing of my mantis efforts - it's all about the look and what passes for a blue nose in my book. Do check it large for the full impact.
The praying mantis is a carnivore, eating mainly insects and other small animals. Many gardeners and farmers welcome them, because the insects they eat are often pests that hurt crops.
In some traditions, the praying mantis is regarded as a protective symbol. It is believed to bring good luck and safeguard individuals from negative energies or harm.

Backside of tiger lily. Looked to me like it was drawing its little arms up in prayer or maybe preparing to blow some kisses my way.

Let go of situations beyond your control, take action toward things within your control and to posses the wisdom to know the difference between the two.
Paraphrased from The Serenity Prayer
Lasst uns den Opfern und ihren Familien gedenken und für sie beten in der Stunde höchster Not
Let us remember the sacrifices and their families, and pray for them in the hour of great distress
This critter decided to come in our house and hang from the top of the front door. I had to get a photo before we ushered it outside. I think they look like aliens
The war continues. Ukrainians bravely continue to defend their sovereign country.
The colours belie the current atrocities Ukraine is facing, but their courage and brilliance in fighting their tormenting aggressors is remarkable.
Let's hope and pray they can remain an independent, self-determining nation--and support them in every way we can.

Well, you almost had me fooled
Told me that I was nothing without you
Oh, but after everything you've done
I can thank you for how strong I have become
'Cause you brought the flames and you put me through hell
I had to learn how to fight for myself
And we both know all the truth I could tell
I'll just say this is "I wish you farewell"
I hope you're somewhere prayin', prayin'
I hope your soul is changin', changin'
I hope you find your peace
Falling on your knees, prayin'
I'm proud of who I am
No more monsters, I can breathe again
And you said that I was done
Well, you were wrong and now the best is yet to come
'Cause I can make it on my own, oh
And I don't need you, I found a strength I've never known
I'll bring thunder, I'll bring rain, oh
When I'm finished, they won't even know your name
You brought the flames and you put me through hell
I had to learn how to fight for myself
And we both know all the truth I could tell
I'll just say this is "I wish you farewell"
I hope you're somewhere prayin', prayin'
I hope your soul is changin', changin'
I hope you find your peace
Falling on your knees, prayin'
Ah sometimes, I pray for you at night, oh
Someday, maybe you'll see the light
Whoa oh, some say, in life, you're gonna get what you give
But some things only God can forgive
Yeah! (I hope you're somewhere prayin', prayin')
I hope your soul is changin', changin'
I hope you find your peace
Falling on your knees, prayin'
We continue to pray for those who are in Florida as this very dangerous storm moves across the state. My SL wife, Suzzie and one of our dear friends, MIssy, live along the east coast of Florida and are still in the path of this storm!
Time to Pray
Do you follow the path?
