Another amazing painting by Eduardo Kobra who has magnificent paintings all over the city. Keep your eyes pealed!

Backside of tiger lily. Looked to me like it was drawing its little arms up in prayer or maybe preparing to blow some kisses my way.

Piggies can't fly ...

But there is a time of stillness!

The praying mantis is a carnivore, eating mainly insects and other small animals. Many gardeners and farmers welcome them, because the insects they eat are often pests that hurt crops.

In some traditions, the praying mantis is regarded as a protective symbol. It is believed to bring good luck and safeguard individuals from negative energies or harm.

They don't live in the British Isles. We found four of them in Oxfordshire. Maybe a storm has pushed them so north. This one is still around after 3 weeks.

Indeed, pray for all you're worth.

"Sabiá Laranjeira" ,bird symbol of the state of São Paulo.

In Tupi (the indigenous language of Brazil), sabiá means “the one who prays a lot”, in reference to the voice of this bird. According to an indigenous legend, when a child hears the song of the sabiá in the early morning hours of spring, they will be blessed with peace, love and happiness.

My husband found this praying mantis last night on the lawn of an ice cream shop where a lot of people were walking. We decided to move it to a safer area and placed it in a flower garden nearby. I had to take a few pictures :-)! I was super excited to see a praying mantis and it is also Connecticut's state insect!

" Och! but Im weary of mist and dark,

And roads where theres never a house nor bush,

And tired I am of bog and road,

And the crying wind and the lonesome hush,

And I am praying to God on high,

And I am praying Him night and day,

For a little house-a house of my own,

Out of the wind and the rains way "

{ Padraic Colum 1881-1972 }

This poem is called " The Old Woman of the Road " and I learned it as a child in school.

After the famine was over in 1850, there were upwards of one million people homeless who just drifted from place to place depending on the goodness of strangers to help them. This poem is based on one such woman who longs for a little house of her own, "Out of the wind and the rains way"

I think its very sad and rather beautiful. We should think on these things in todays modern society and the many homeless immigrants who come to our countries seeking help and a better life.

The war continues. Ukrainians bravely continue to defend their sovereign country.

The colours belie the current atrocities Ukraine is facing, but their courage and brilliance in fighting their tormenting aggressors is remarkable.

Let's hope and pray they can remain an independent, self-determining nation--and support them in every way we can.

We continue to pray for those who are in Florida as this very dangerous storm moves across the state. My SL wife, Suzzie and one of our dear friends, MIssy, live along the east coast of Florida and are still in the path of this storm!

NEED A FAVOR ~ JELLYROLL

I only talk to God, when I need a favor

And I only pray, when I ain't got a prayer

So, who the hell am I?

Who the hell am I, to expect a savior?

Oh-oh-ohh

If I only talk to God, when I need a favor?

But God, I need a favor

Amen, amen

Amen, amen

Hangin' in there, just barely

Throwin' up prayers, like Hail Mary's

If You're still there, Lord spare me

Oh my God, oh my God, Hail Mary

Little Bryndza mouse, holding a Sunflower (Urkraine’s national flower), is praying for Peace. Here’s a translation of the Ukraine’s National Anthem 🇺🇦 The glory and freedom of Ukraine has not yet perished

Luck will still smile on us brother-Ukrainians.

Our enemies will die, as the dew does in the sunshine,

and we, too, brothers, we'll live happily in our land.

We’ll not spare either our souls or bodies to get freedom

and we’ll prove that we brothers are of Kozak kin.

Time to Pray

I'm sorting through old photos from a period (of years) when I wasn't processing or sharing them much. I'm deleting a lot but will post any of particular interest.
