British women bought these as their #royal possession form #India and also used some as souvenirs. Some 250 year old pieces can still be seen in the collection of #Queen #Elizabeth.

already know how the AFSPA far from curbing terrorists is actually a living terror for the common people of North-East and Kashmir. .
On the Sethusamudram project too, the BJPs position was weak and unconvincing since the NDA Govt itself had initiated and passed the project, and since there was no evidence whatsoever that the reef was a man-made construction. However, the UPA Government surrendered abjectly to the Sangh Parivar and BJPs communal designs and attempts to pass off mythology as history, by withdrawing the ASIs affidavit on the issue and taking action against the ASI officials who had quite rightly pointed out that mythological texts could not be used to prove the historical existence of a Ram bridge. .
UPA-United Partners Of America?! Continuing with the BJP-led NDA regimes foreign policy, the UPA Government has tied India in strategic slavery to the imperialist USA. The red carpet welcome to George Bush, the vote against the Iran at the IAEA and the Nuke Deal are proof of the UPA Govts pro-imperialist positions. The UPA Govt.s claims that the Nuke Deal will solve the energy needs of Indias growing economy are proved to be a lie by the fact that at best, by 2020, nuclear energy will provide merely 7% -and that too not 7% of Indias total energy needs but just Indias electricity needs. Apart from formidable costs of imported nuclear plants, there are enormous environmental, health and safety hazards. Real purpose of the Nuke Deal is not energy but larger strategic relationship between USA and India whereby USA will closely control every aspect of Indias economy, military and foreign policy. The Hyde Act reveals the real text of this slavish deal: whereby the Deal is contingent on Indias foreign policy being congruent to that of the USA. BJPs opposition to the deal is purely farcical as they were the original proponents of the deal. Unfortunately, CPI-CPI(M), is performing yet another political theatre of pretending to oppose the deal. CPI-CPI(M)must explain : why afterall they are not asking for a vote on the deal in the Parliament? Why are CPI-CPI(M) interested only in pause and debate(without vote) and not eject and reject? .
Not just this, the UPA Govt. is strengthening everyday its military, commercial and strategic ties with racist colonialist Israeli and the military dictatorship of Burma even in the face of their increasing brutality. Shockingly CPI-CPI(M) and their representatives in our campus, once again, never condemn UPAs military and commercial support with these killer and racist regimes. Infact, CPI(M) govt in Bengal itself has commercial ties with colonial and racist Israel! .

JNUSU in the face of the Burning Questions of Our Time .
The ongoing peoples movements and their brutal repression by the state, as well as the assault of anti-people policies demand a powerful support and solidarity by JNUSU. However it was only that section of JNUSU, led by the JNUSU Vice President and General Secretary, who ensured continuous support of JNU students against displacement, draconian laws and caste repression in the country. The other section of JNUSU leadership were conspicuous by their silence, as they were more keen to serve their political bosses in UPA and CPI(M) government in West Bengal. .
On Reservations and Rights of SC/STs and OBCs .
In the face of renewed offensive by YFE, and their machinations to stall 27% reservation, social humiliation and virulent casteist attacks through administrative and social means against the forces of social justice, JNUSU led by the VP and Gen. Secy articulated a strong position in the April 10 AC meeting, in favour of implementation of 27% reservation and 54% seat increase without any staggering in JNU. When the Supreme Court stay on OBC quota, it was JNUSU VP and Gen. Secy alone who called for a Protest March on campus and at Parliament Street. Implementation of 27% reservation remains a key question and all attempts to derail it must be robustly countered. We stood in solidarity with AIIMS doctors against the victimization of dalits and violation of Constitutional SC/ST quotas in AIIMS and protested against the brutal lynching of a dalit college student, Chandrasen by upper caste goons in Pratapgarh, U.P. .

On Struggles Against Corporate Land Grab and Police Firing .
.
The JNUSU VP and Gen. Secy. organised a protest-demo against the Nandigram firing and masscre; this was boycotted by the JNUSU Vice President and Joint Secretary. The JNUSU General Secretary visited Singur in December 2006, following Tapasi Maliks rape and murder by CPI(M) leaders. .
.
.
In the case of the Khammam firing also, it was the JNUSU VP and Gen. Secy who called for a Protest Demo. while the JNUSU President boycotted it! Such silences and boycotts can only be explained by the fact that CPI(M) itself is engaged in the worst form of state repression and forced eviction of peasantry in West Bengal for SEZs! They are silent on Khammam because in the mirror of Khammam, they see the face of Nandigram. .
