Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018

The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.

The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services

The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

I was going to pass on the op to shoot a practice session, but I'm kinda glad that I did.

One afternoon I was waiting for someone and while I was waiting I decided to practice and trying to get a better understanding of the effect of shutter speeds.

I used a rainbow windmill, its three little lights that spin round and round and produce different patterns. I picked this picture because it showed a full circle and all the different colours it produced and the fact that it looks like its going really fast…lol

I did do much in LR…just decreased the blacks and added a little bit of lens vignetting.

Walking downtown I heard music. He was practicing in the stairwell for the acoustics.

These are common in tessellated masks but not so common anywhere else.

Tai-Chi practice. A night fooling around the "cité des sciences et de l'industrie", we heard some music near la Géode. The guy was there, under the bridge, practicing Tai-Chi and not caring about the people around him, pretty much like he was in his own sphere.

Sketched quickly from the imagination (really just plop down the washes and let it go where it may). I'm using these to practice technique without getting "attached" to the work. I think I'll be doing quite a few of these for a while.

Taken with Samsung NX300 provided by Samsung Electronics.

I've been using Samsung camera for around three years and I bought four Samsung cameras. Now Samsung provided me with a new Compact System Camera NX300 so I went out to test it last week.

My assistant has an amazing house, so we did a training session the other day.

It was the first time I forgot extra batteries while I was out shooting!

Ham and cheese rocket sandwich, blueberries, carrot stars and a black cherry tomato cheese ring planet.

What I learned: It takes a LOT of blueberries to fill a 650ml box. I switched to a smaller one and left out the other planets and moon I had planned, so we're a little veggie light.
