Practicing strainer avoidance stuff - and in this little tributary of the Birkenhead where the water definitely wasn't pumping - nobody who floated down and just wrapped around the log could muscle themselves over it...this particular conversation had something to do with a goat...

Arms outstretched over-head, tippy-toes, 1/40 shutter speed, live view, 1250 ISO... gotta make it work!
Our backyard. The spindly object on the left is not a nearby shrubbery, but instead a maple next to the garage.
Taken the night before a promised winter storm. Judging by the table on the back patio, our house had 11 3/4" of snowfall.
Tech. notes:
No exposure or color adjustment. This was done with a 30-second exposure with all house lights turned off.
I hadn't taken any waterfall shot in a long time so I went out to a couple of easy one -- just a few steps from parking lots - to keep my hand in.
Clarendon Falls here.

(quoted from the Wikipedia entry for Fort Ligonier)
Fort Ligonier is a British fortification from the French and Indian War located in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, United States. The fort served as a staging area for the Forbes Expedition of 1758. During the eight years of its existence as a garrison, Fort Ligonier was never taken by an enemy. It served as a post of passage to the new Fort Pitt, and during Pontiac's War of 1763, was a vital link in the British communication and supply lines. It was attacked twice and besieged by the Native Americans, prior to the decisive victory at Bushy Run in August of that year. The fort was decommissioned from active service in 1766.

Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018
The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.
The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services
The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

215/365. At 5 years 3 weeks Andy will be the youngest player on our Tiny Mite Football team this year. Ironically, Ben (his brother) will be the oldest.
Just a little joke I had at the market one day. I'm sure there's another joke in here about bad taste...
For the 2nd year in a row young upstart CLIO, who makes legal practice management software, invited me to come hang out and photograph their staff Christmas party in Vancouver. This is one of the fastest growing companies in the world and they definitely share the same work hard play hard ethos as many of my other favorite young technology startup clients like Hootsuite, Shopify, Tune & Connect. :)
