A while back, I tested the macro ability of three cameras. The power button on my Prius was the test subject. My point-and-shoot cameras can be put right up against an object and focus. However, my DSLR lenses have a minimum focusing distance on the order of 0.98-4.9ft. For this particular lens, it is 1.5ft. You can see I wasn't able to get as close to the button as I could with the PowerShot SD1100 IS.
The autofocus of the EF 50mm f/1.8 II has proven hit or miss for me. When the AF struggles, I switch to manual focus, which is what I did here. This lens produces good results if focused right. On the other hand, I had to throw away all three shots I took of a scene because the AF didn't do very well. It's a $100 lens so I can't complain too much. I really like the depth of field seen here.

Digital gauges; I guess I could call this a glass cockpit. Note that I refer to myself as the pilot on the splash screen.
Sometimes I wish he had a on/off button, it would make life so much easier :)

I never realized how jacked up my Macbook Pro power button was until I looked at it through my macro lens. I think I need to get a new laptop now...
Strobiist Info: Manual 1/2//1 SB 600's to the left through a white umbrella.
I still prefer the design of the old mb pro. I don't like the black keys on the new one. And the pattern of holes on the old alu housing in combination with the power button looks a lot better.

The mouse that double clicks in a single click. Either left or right, it will do the same thing. I'm just taking a memorable image before smacking it down.

I love me some photoshop. This is taken from another photo in my stream and I decided to make the background white. It almost looks like a button. Kind of cool huh?

The 2007 Prius is really a computer on wheels with air conditioning, all it needs is an internet connection...
The power button to the very same Xbox 360. Notice the design of the 360 lends itself to better macro photos :D
Stop what you are doing. Back up. Don't have a back up solution? Find one. I cannot stress the value in backing up your digital life. Your photos, your projects, your digital keepsakes that have countless hours of crafting or creating involved should be safe at all times. I finally got a larger external drive that is now acting as my main backup solution. I'm running well over 350GB of photos now and it's only going to keep growing this year (and beyond). Mix in the thousands of photos, the months of music, and probably 100 side projects from over the years, and I know I have a disaster waiting in the wings if I don't have my backups in proper order.
Back up. Someday, you'll thank all of those computer geeks that always nag you about it.
(just got a 1.5TB Western Digital in a external enclosure from Macally that looks like my MacPro! Yes, I bought it for that reason.)
The boys left the xbox on and I noticed the power button was a pretty silver.

Here's the way you turn on our new hybrid electric car, a Toyota Prius. It's so strange not to put a key into an ignition to turn on your car!!
Ok, so this is cheating for my OAD. I didn't take THIS picture on 12/09. But I did take one that was pretty much exactly the same and my card got wiped and it was gone before I could get it on my computer to upload.
The pic from 12/08 is gone too, but I can't "replace" it. It was of the sunset that day behind Camelback mountain. A major shame that it was lost, and frustrating that I actually TOOK the pic for my OAD and have nothing to show for it. Oh well. At least I can pretend like this one was recovered!

Blurry, and you can almost see the texture of the dashboard.
Part of my test of three cameras. Macro photography test.
