Seagrove, NC, could probably be called the Pottery Capitol. There are over 100 pottery studios there.... Magnolia Place and Jugtown are our favorites. Seagrove is located in an area rich in clay well suited for pottery, and potterymaking can be traced back to the time before colonization. Beautiful pots were, and still are, made by Native American crafters and artists.

Located in the City's Operations building at 50 Municipal Street in Guelph, Ontario. It consists of 10 electric pottery wheels, two kilns and all the essentials for creating pottery.

The museum section of the North Carolina Pottery Center gives a historical tour of pottery in the Seagrove area, but also has display cases for contemporary work, hosts exhibitions and offers classes for both adults and the local school children.

Pupils carrying out a variety of experiments in a ground floor laboratory, which is now the pottery studio. The benches survived into the 1980s and were sent to lab P4 of the new science building. The retort stands are still with us.
Some of the experiments are identifiable even today. Front row left is an optics experiment, probably with convex lenses. Second row left is a moments of forces experiment. Rear row left is an archimedes principle experiment.
