Ashdown Forest.

The larva of the Beautiful Yellow Underwing moth feeding amongst the Heather. This species is specialist on heathland and is quite scarce in Sussex. Three larva were found on a large patch of Heather. Here it is seen in its defense posture as it realised there was something very strange about!!

This is the first of what I hope will be several of these collages/mosaics. I think I will use this format for images that I don't feel have the power/quality to stand on their own, but the really good ones will get their own post.

These are the pics I got leading up to the Battle Royale image; be sure to check that out.

Thanks for looking.

A pair of nesting Northern Mockingbirds have made it their mission to attack me when leaving my front door. This one alighted on the branch after scraping my lens hood with her little claws.

Note: Sunning posture, aka" Horaltic Pose" with the wings spread with the back facing the sun. This behavior likely has several functions in different situations – allowing for heat loss when the bird is too warm, heat gain on cool early mornings and wing drying when the feathers are wet. I’ve also heard it suggested that they may sometimes be using ultraviolet light from the sun to kill bacteria on their plumage from their last decaying meal. Another possible explanation is warming up their feathers prior to aligning them properly.

A White-browed Scimitar Babbler (Pomatorhinus schisticeps) was scanning for the insects under the barks in an early morning. Here it eventually got a desired catch in its yellow curved beak holding like a display of its prize in an upside down posture. The backdrop light green Bokeh and the brown barks of the branch made it a something very special in composition. We both had our prize in that morning. Pics was taken from a forest in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India.

AKA Offensive posture of a Common Redpoll

Well, my lens was way too long to capture the posturing battle that was going on. You get the idea...

Short-eared Owls utilise a number of different display postures and can rely more on these than on vocalisations, reflecting their association with open rather than wooded habitats.

The male has a song consisting of ten or more hoots, sometimes delivered as part of an elaborate display flight which can last for up to an hour. The display also includes bursts of rapid wing-clapping. Other calls include hoarse screeches and barks. (BTO).

My thanks to anyone who views, faves or comments on any of my photos. It is much appreciated.

I was really lucky and caught this beautiful Egret on a fishing boat in Marina Del Rey standing in front of a large rolled up black fishing net posturing to another Egret to keep away

A Mule Deer (Odocoileus hemionus) buck approaches a rival, ears pinned back and hackles raised. This type of behavior, often known as "posturing" communicates agitation or aggression to other deer, most often rival bucks, and may indicate that a fight is imminent. Larimer County, Colorado.

I come here every day, for the coffee of course… but not only. In this well-known place, I know exactly what to expect: a burning hot coffee, and a barista naked under his apron, even hotter than the coffee itself, fully aware of the effect he has. I smile, play with my posture, take my time. I play with my look: fitted skirt, soft knit, a deceptively innocent attitude. Here, the coffee is strong, the atmosphere even stronger… and that’s exactly why I keep coming back. ☕🔥😏
