As we were driving down an estuary road in Portugal we stopped to avoid this crayfish. When we got out of the car to wait he stood up in this posture.
In Portugal there was only one European crayfish species, the white clawed Austropotamobius pallipes. During the last decade they have become mostly extinct and overtaken by the invasive species of Red swamp crayfish. Also known as Louisiana crawfish or mudbug.

On a hill overlooking the beach, a dragon assumes a defensive posture on the roof of the house.
He stares at you; you stare at him...watch where you are driving!

Seen at the top of the hill, overlooking the beach at Charlevoix, Michigan.
En premier plan, une femme seule est captivée par une conversation téléphonique. Sa posture montre une certaine tension dans son corps, peut-être une conversation importante ou émotionnelle.
En arrière-plan, une autre femme est assise sur un banc, de dos, regardant dans une direction opposée. Sa présence discrète accentue le sentiment de solitude et de distance. Le banc semble à la fois être un refuge pour la femme assise et une barrière symbolique entre les deux protagonistes de la photo.
J’ai essayé de donner un aperçu de la vie quotidienne, du passage du temps et des émotions qui parcourent les personnes dans cet environnement serein mais parfois isolant.
In the foreground, a lone woman is captivated by a telephone conversation. Her posture shows some tension in her body, perhaps an important or emotional conversation.
In the background, another woman is seated on a bench, from behind, looking in the opposite direction. Its discreet presence accentuates the feeling of loneliness and distance. The bench seems both to be a refuge for the seated woman and a symbolic barrier between the two protagonists of the photo.
I tried to give an insight into daily life, the passage of time and the emotions that run through people in this serene but sometimes isolating environment.
This new plant in our garden seemed dormant for some time, then it began to produce one passion flower per week and now it gives several at a time.
The bees seem unable to understand the intricate structure of the flowers which is perhaps why the plant has produced no fruit.

He had focused on the male of Onychogomphus costae and for the moment he curved his abdomen with this curious posture and I deduce that he is cleaning some dirt with his right hind leg.

Sometimes it seems that Swallows never stop to perch, but that was not the case for this Barn Swallow at Huntley Meadows Park. It perched right on the boardwalk railing and didn't seem to mind me being there at all.

Bee-eaters spend around 10% of their day on comfort activities. These include sunning themselves, dust bathing and water bathing. Sunning behaviour helps warm birds in the morning, reducing the need to use energy to raise their temperature. It also has a social aspect, as multiple birds adopt the same posture. Finally, it may help stimulate parasites in the feathers, making them easier to find and remove.
Due to their hole-nesting lifestyle, bee-eaters accumulate a number of external parasites such as mites and flies. Together with sunning, bouts of dust bathing (or water bathing where available), as well as rigorous preening, keep the feathers and skin in good health.
