Description: Notting Hill store and post office, 1889-1955 (after closure?)

The authors of Then and now: a pictorial history of the City of Monash recorded the varied history of the Notting Hill Post Office on page 18 of their fine work; noting that it was originally located on the south side of Ferntree Gully Road, just west of the corner with Howleys Road. See locale on Google Maps.

Christmas Morning 2017

Photo taken in September 1973.

This building, then known as the Post Office Tower, was the tallest structure in London when we were there. Now it's called the BT Tower and is only the fourth tallest building.

this is for lesson 11, post processing, these are not my images!

1. River, I tweaked the exposure a bit, making it a bit kinder on the eyes and also cropped the picture,

2. Leaf, there were 2 black spots on it, and I used the spot healing brush to remove it,

3. Spider web, we were to get creative on this one, so I added a cute little spider and named it Charlotte,

I am a bit behind on my assignments due to my lap top being plagued by malware so I will be posting lots of pictures this week, so bare with me, things will get back to normal soon! No need to comment, I know I am behind on commenting so no rush on commenting my photos!

I was approached by a film company because they wanted to use my Delica while shooting a short film set in the near future.

They asked me to make it look as 'Post Apocalyptic' as possible. I did my best!

Fliming took place in South London on an abandoned/dereclict housing estate. A massive place with 2000+ apartments all empty. Quite eery!

I took these shots just after filming had finished and the crew had gone home. It made for a nice setting.

There is almost no info abut this camera in the Internet and McKeown's.

Matt Denton says:

"Patent June 14, 1910" (1914?)

and Canemah Studio, a member of Flickr, says in the description of his camera's photo:

"It was manufactured with a collaboration between the Houghton Ltd. of London and Gennert company of New York in the early 1900's, probably between 1911-1915. It's a very uncommon camera and information on this particular model has been difficult to find. The attention to detail is fantastic and the workmanship of British cameras is quite remarkable and beautiful."

A brief history about Houghtons in pre-WW1 era:

Haughtons dates back to 1814 as a glass seller. Then they began to distribute the Daguerreotype requzites. After 1904 the firm produced a vast range of cameras and absorbed some small camera makers. From 1900 until around 1909, a large number of Houghtons' cameras were German imports, primarily Dr.Krugener.

There are many similarities between this camera and some Dr.Krugener models. So, it could be that my camera is a kind of copy of Krugeners.

In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a wanderer has built a shack for protection.

I'm proud to present the Emiliacouture Spring 2021 ready to wear capsule collection: "Post Apocalypse".

The Post Apocalypse athleisure garments are all about movement and dancing around the apartment while no one is watching. This Issey Miyake inspired collection of lounge wear is made out of Japanese pleated cotton blend with PVC stripes. The soft and stiff stripes give the fabric a unique shapeability that is really fun to play around with.

All items are OOAK and fit most 16" dolls (photographed here on Inamorata 3.0). They are sold as mix-an-match items at my store:

The background wall elements are made by Julia Gartung and painted by me using a sponge technique. The leather lounge that is in some pics is also commissioned from Julia.

Commemorating Jessica Ennis (a Sheffield resident) winning the gold medal in the London 2012 Olympics Heptathlon. Division Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK.

post street - union square / financial district - san francisco, california

Built probably 1980s. Long, single storey 5-bay modern Post Office. Four square windows, that to left with posting pox beneath. Steps and ramp leading to off-centre entrance bay with twin wooden doors and glazed panelling to either side; three appropriate letterbox fanlights above.

Quite rare to see a Post Office from this era and of interest to compare to other Post Offices through the ages.
