Turkey vulture (Cathartes aura) also know as a Turkey buzzard. I saw him on a deer carcass off the road a piece. It flew off as I parked but after a fifteen minute wait, he returned and perched on this post. He wasn't too comfortable with me there.

El humilladero de Los Cuatro Postes es un monumento religioso situado en la ciudad de Ávila. Está formado por cuatro columnas dóricas de cinco metros de altura sobre cuyos capiteles se asientan otros tantos arquitrabes con las armas de la ciudad; en el centro del cuadrado formado por las columnas, sobre una peana, se erige una cruz de granito.
LA LEYENDA
Cuenta la leyenda, que fue en este lugar donde los niños Teresa de Jesús y su hermano Rodrigo fueron interceptados por su tío cuando partían hacia el sur a evangelizar infieles, sin importarles morir en su intento ya que se convertirían en mártires. Y es que estaban tan fuertemente influidos por las lecturas de libros de caballería que querían vivir una aventura de esta índole.
Años después, cuando Teresa es "despachada" de la ciudad por sus divergencias a la hora de entender la expresión de la religiosidad, paró en su marcha de la ciudad allí mismo y, mirando hacia Ávila mientras se quitaba las sandalias y las sacudía, dijo: "De Ávila, ni el polvo". Menos mal que, más tarde, se reconcilió con su patria chica.
Despues de un frío día por la ciudad de Ávila, cubierta bajo un manto blanco de nieve y temperaturas que no supero el grado negativo en todo el día, llego el momento adecuado para acudir a los cuatro postes, el atardecer. Y desde allí acompañado de un generoso número de publico, pude contemplar un bonito atardecer entre nubes y claros, y algún otro copo de nieve que de dejaron ver timidamente, para hacer aun más inolvidable el deseado instante.
Fue el colofón de mi primera visita fotográfica por la capital abulense y hora de volver para casa. No me queda la menor duda, que volveré, Ávila tiene mucho que mostrarme todavía.
