This year the FFF+ have created a group challenge called 'Five on The Fifth' (FOTF) ... five images in the form of a collage must be uploaded on the 5th of each month, with there being a different theme, set by a member of the group each month.
The photos can be five different images or five images of the one subject/object shot in different ways, as long as they are presented in the form of a collage.
This months theme was "structures" as chosen by www.flickr.com/people/laszlo_papinot/
I may be pushing the boundaries on this one ... its a manipulated composite of 5 images, re-creating the Gold Coast skyline as [not] seen from the lawns of the Gold Coast Arts Centre. The city sky scrapers are across a river and behind the sound shell structure, but not in the same perspective or dimensions as you see them here.
Possibly this is a really close up shot of sequins
*and* this is what happens when you pin sliders just to see what happens … grin
Hmmm, I could crop it a little
With the heat and lack of water, some parts of our garden are in a sad state ... but still beautiful in a derelict way ...
For a little *glam* I added yourbartender's Texture to the au naturel asbestos fence bokeh

What's the longest you've ever stuck around to take a photograph?
On my first night in Istanbul, I completely misjudged the sunset time and wound up waiting more than 2 hours on a cold and windy rooftop. Now, I'm editing photos under a blanket.
I have no regrets.

Let's Travel the World!
I've spent the past decade exploring our world; and documenting the journey in photos and stories. For all the latest updates, follow along on:
Got up this morning in a playful mood (I love being retired) and was definitely thinking "out of the box" - picked up the Nikon and put on the 10-24, which I haven't done in a while. Sipped some coffee.
The light streaming through the windows invigorates. The sun was shining brilliantly, although the air was heavy with humidity, but it wasn't raining (yay) and the sky was void of cloud cover (rare the past month).
Shooting with a wide angle is fun! Hit the inside of the house first and then went outdoors, but those shots can wait for another day.
I kept the fun going with Photoshop... Five For Fun.

Post processing was done the same on all images. Each is as framed and reduced to 180dpi from 300. No other images or color were added. Toning, saturation and filters were all used in the same order for each photo. Spot saturation and toning on each for finished results.
Thank you for viewing, faving or commenting on my images, have a great day!
CC Week 32: Post-Processing Play
These faces were drawn in pencil on a wall behind a grocery store. There were more but this is the best cell phone pic I got. I took some film shots I haven't developed yet.
I don't remember seeing these fungi growing in my yard before. I've no idea what they are, either. They surprised me because of their hiding place behind a trunk of a tree which was cut down two years ago, due to a pest called southern pine beetles, and their destruction of the tree. The fungi remind me of marshmallows cooked over a camping fire.
Augury, which means 'the art or practice of divination from signs or omens', and hence 'an omen, token, or indication', is a Latin derivative. The immediate source is Latin augurium, which is derived from a Latin base form augur.
In ancient Rome, the augures were official diviners, and were one of the four main groups of priests. Though they used various methods of divination, an augur would often use the flight or behavior of birds as a primary method. (Compare a haruspex, an originally Etruscan diviner who divined by examining the entrails of slaughtered animals. I personally find tea-leaves a much neater procedure.)
In English, augur is normally used as a noun meaning 'a soothsayer; prophet' or as a verb meaning 'to divine or predict' and also 'to serve as an omen of; foreshadow'. The historical use meaning 'a Roman augur' is comparatively rare.
The ultimate origin of Latin augur is uncertain. It was once considered to be derived from avi and ger(o), meaning 'directing the birds', but this is now usually considered a folk etymology. The probable origin is from Latin augere 'to increase' (the source of English augment, among others), alluding to the growth or prosperity that successful divination would enable.
The word augury is first found in English in the fourteenth century.

Last summer we had very few dragonflies in the yard. It was so unusual. We are lucky to have more this year. This dragonfly eluded me for most of my time outside that day. I finally caught him in a pose with his car after he landed on a rock where I had placed a Matchbox car. I had dug up the Matchbox car, which belonged to my sons years ago, in the yard a few days earlier.

Every now and then I will run workshops that focus on one of my interests, such as photography. Today, I instructed a grade ten class and had them do a photo walkabout with an eye to finding interesting abstract compositions in the neighbourhood of their school. These are some of my own efforts from the afternoon.
Post Process adjustments using ACDSee Pro 5 include: increased colour saturation, application of Orton Effect.
