Last night, I intended to do some magician! Quite honestly, I went and searched for some presets on the internet and as most of them are for sale, I decided to do it myself!!
What you see to the left is the shot I took with my Canon 40mm Pancake Lens which was mounted on my 7D. Since the weather was cloudy, the saturation is poor and colors are senseless even if you adjust the temperature and W.B. correctly.
Anyway..
I spent about one and a half hour post processing on it. With Apple Aperture, even tiny details are adjustable. Colors, curves and so on. All are in the hand of the photographer in order to make what he/she wants.
Finally, you can see the result in the right side.
The most notable point I'd like to draw is that you will never achieve perfect result till you consider all adjustment of such post-production softwares as a whole. All have strong relation and magical interconnection through which you are able to revive your dead shots.

An old photo of mine I stumbled upon while browsing my images folder. Either under or over exposed, but at the time not deemed 'worthy'. Revived in sepia to hide infinite sins.
Postprocessed with RAW in camera body:
ISO 1250, f/6.4, 1/60, 200mm (FF eqv: 300mm)
RAW: Exposure +0.9, Contrast +21, Whites +13, Blacks -14, Vibrance +20
PS sharpening: Amount +60, Radius +1.5, Detail + 40
This is the last photo I edited using the Picnik tool in Flickr. Just after I did this Picnik was gone and replaced by aviary. Aviary can't do this.
I frequently stop off at this vintage junked cars yard and take photos through the chain link and over the razor wire defenses. The old paint and rust do well with HDR techniques.

Just me playing around in PS with a shot that didn't really work out how I wanted it to. I had thought at the time I took it how I wished I had my holga with me instead.
This is a photo I've wanted to make for a long time. I pulled over in the Mini during a solo drive to Moss Lake. In the photo, its a much prettier boat than I'd thought.
