A postmortem portrayal of my favorite fictional philosopher, Pierre Delalande

In good old times Poles used to put paintings like that on the foot piece of a coffin. Now this type of postmortem art is seen in very old crypts and in museums. All people you see on those paintings were painted after death...creepy? I'm curious if you had this tradition in your country. Let me know :-)
