... and I can't resist posting one more from the same spot. This one was taken a few years ago, with the Canon, and I love how different it is ...
POSTING JUVENILE BIRDS FROM HOME
====================================
JUVENILE recalls the adult but note the red crown and subdued red vent colour. this one has been around for quite a while, so its not a very young one. But a real joy climbing tree trunks in the garden, excavates timber by drilling with its bill, does not like its photo being taken, on seeing me it will go to the far side of the tree. Has a undulating flight, loves the peanut feeders, but flys straight to them, and away the same, so a oppertunity like above, captured yesterday (Tues.) has to be taken.
====================================================
THANK YOU for your visit and comment, will look forward to seeing your lastest image and doing the same. being transported around the world with images, from you my extended family, brings me a lot of joy, God bless you all......

Thanks a lot, dear friends for encouraging me by posting comments & adding to your faves :-)
I am off to France for a long weekend ...will not be posting any more images until next Tuesday. Will be excited to see all the things my friends have posted when I return.
In this scene from a nearby village there is a lot of activity near the post box but no letters being posted. The couple on the left in their country attire ..the shoppers on the right and the seated man checking his phone !!
I am posting this because I like how the water ripple caught along the lily, with the light sparkling, however it was a very long ways away, wind moving it and therefore grainy, so my apologies.
Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead filled with sunshine!
Thank you all again so much for your support and visit!
These small plants have found a home among the decaying railroad ties, a perfect ecological niche.
EDIT
After posting, it occurred to me that this looks like an image to which selective color was applied. Actually, only a few spots on the wood beams were desaturated; otherwise, the colors are pretty much the way the way they appeared.
Sorry for not posting photos for a few days.
My RL work has become busy again.
I'm off today, so I want to take a lot of pictures 😊📷
Have a beautiful spring weekend to all 😉🌸

sorry for posting another butterfly today ;-) I promise the next one is with a rising sun, some fog and possible a windmill...
It's very bad weather today but i decided this afternoon to go for a little walk and see how nature is booming in my area.
I couldn't believe my eyes when i discovered this nice guy.
The bokeh is caused by some grass in front of the lens.

Thanks everyone for visiting my stream.
Posting one from the archive, just to remind us of the rich variety of autumn colors. This one captured at Great Brook Farms in Carlisle.
I usually follow the seasons more or less when I post, but what's a rule without exceptions? ;)
It is hard to stop posting flowers even when fall and winter are present. I guess there is not need to spot since many of us love them.
This one is a favorite of mine. Practically it doesn't need any type of care at all, even can flower during mild winters. They are edible usually in salads, sandwiches and soups, and used in homeopathy medicine.
Did you know that the Romans legions used their juice to treat their injuries?t I didn't. Lots of interesting stories about this humble and yet very useful flower:

Another fun fact, it has been use as a part of a game too ;)

Photography is one of my passions, and nature photography is my favorite.
I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.
I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!
The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!

Posting the front and back views reminds me of the Joni Mitchell song - 'Both Sides Now'
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
posting for 'the other side'
please know my appreciation for any visits, comments and faves, thanking you kindly
My posting of the Saw Whet four pics earlier brought me luck for this season! Went to the Pole Farm early in hopes of seeing a Short eared Owl. Not luck with that. But this big bird was flying over and past us. Quick shoot and discover on your display that it's a Snowy Owl. What a way to start your day with a major surprise!
Another posting from an evening on Higger Tor last week, with the distinctive outline of Over Owler Tor and the surrounding high ground silhouetted against a clearing bank of mist in the Derwent Valley beyond. I was particularly struck by the sight of the remnants of the mist swirling around the stands of trees in Longshaw Estate, which can be seen to the left of this scene.

Prince is just about one year old now. It is so hard to believe. His golden fur glistens and his tail is reaching full plume!
I have not taken any pictures since fall, but I felt like posting a picture again, so here it is.
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to view, comment, and fave my photo.
This is a very personal posting which is not meant to be addressed to my Flickr-friends and contacts.
It's solely dedicated to someone, who broke off contact with me in a most dramatic way after more than 10 years. He's obviously getting caught up in strange conspiracy theories and such. Maybe he's always been this way and I just didn't notice? I don't know...and I don't get it.
What a pity. But anyways - we're living in confusing times, don't we? Nevertheless I don't need anybody to "explain the world" to me. So: Cheers, my so called "friend"!
Mallorca 2013
Shall be posting an Image a day for the next year, 365 (or 366 if it is a Leap year...not checked!!).
The Format will be different...some images have been shown before, some are new...... At the moment I am now starting a "New" Project.....Well it is "New" for me, although it has been done before by many, many People too!!!.
I will follow the direction I have chosen but there is plenty of room for me to chop and change at a later date...I guess it depends how I feel about it at a later date.
This Project will now give me the time to work with other ideas I am playing with. There will still be months in which I post other pics too from themes I have worked with in the past......I have just made a little more time and space available to me.
So hope you like the changes.......
Friends: Will be posting and commenting periodically while in ATX.
A view of downtown Austin as seen from the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge that connects that north and south shores of Lady Bird Lake, a reservoir of the Colorado River. Google's beautiful new Austin office headquarters was completed earlier this year. The 594-floor building, with its west facing side shaped like a sail, is just one of several new and architecturally impressive downtown skyscrapers that are recently completed or are under construction.
To the left of center are the upper floors of The Independent, the tallest residential building in the United States west of the Mississippi River. The jenga-shaped, 690-foot structure became Austin's tallest building when it was completed in 2019. If you look closely in the distance behind and to the right of The Independent is Sixth and Guadalupe, a skyscraper under construction that already has topped out at 875 feet. And its reign as the city's tallest will be short-lived as construction already is underway on Waterline (98 Red River), that will become the tallest building in Texas at 1,022-feet when it is completed in 2026.
Austin is the capital of the State of Texas, as well as the seat of Travis County. With a population of just under one million residents, Austin is the 11th largest city in the United States. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, now with a population of 2.3M, is one of the fastest growing large metropolitan areas in the country having added more than 579,000 residents since 2010. This place is booming!
As I have mentioned in a prior posting I tend to wander off the beaten track traveling and will hang out where the locals live if possible, I don’t mind sticking my head through a fence or gate if necessary when I see a shot worth taking.
This shot was on a street I had thought had no shot opportunities and its only purpose in my mind was to get me elsewhere, when I walked by this perfect scene behind a wrought iron gate.
I am a very big researcher for my trips I tend to have planned everything down to the letter with multiple options for closure, weather and mood, that is my process when I have this framework in place I can relax and operate as loosely as I like to do whatever strikes my fancy at the time.
Always make some time for the unexpected otherwise you will miss some amazing opportunities for connecting with the locals and locale, stop and smell the proverbial roses and experience the true flavor of a place.
Disclaimer: Not trying to be realistic in my editing there is enough realism in the world, my style is a mix of painterly and romanticism as well as a work in progress.
I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70 2.8 G2 Lens processed in LR, PS and DXO Nik
Don't get excited, this is not from this year. I saw some others posting images from previous years, as a way to lick their wounds for not being able to go this year. I thought it was a good idea. I always have reserves of images that almost made the cut from previous years. This image is from 2019.
I think we are going to see a trove of images from trapped photographers. Many B-roll images will finally see the light of day. Oregon just announced that they will now keep their parks and trails closed until September!!!! To the photo vaults then. Lets see what has been waiting their turn...
I'm posting this image to my Flickr gallery with a story... It was taken by my daughter. Its one of her first images. She is on the autism spectrum and has always struggled to express herself in ways that other people can relate to. This image she made fills me with a whole wave of emotion. I took her with me for a walk at a park one day and gave her a point and shoot camera to use since I was carrying mine. It was completely un-coached, just a girl on a walk with her dad at a large park in Seattle. Shortly after that we moved and I packed the camera away. Just the other day I found it in a box, the SD card still in it... So I downloaded them. The images she brought home are so expressive and amazing it takes my breath away. I'm just sharing this one image because it gives me hope. And, I hope it speaks to you as well. You are not alone. God bless.
Posting some old photo's before new adventures arise.

Some images from RHS Hyde Hall Flower Show 03/08/2019
Had time to visit Hyde Hall on Saturday for their August Flower Show. Bought a few for plants the front borders, will always find room for more. This is 2 of 3 postings.

A view of the main entrance to Austin's City Hall. Built of Texas limestone and sitting on the site of a once-raucous 19th Century bordello district, Austin’s copper-clad City Hall, completed in 2004, is the work of lead architect Antoine Predock, principal of Antoine Predock PC. Prior to 2004 Austin’s City Council had occupied a Municipal Building that had last been expanded in 1938, largely funded by the Public Works Administration.
Austin wanted its city hall building to fit the spirit of the city, which the Dallas Morning News has described as a "crazy-quilt vitality, that embraces everything from country music to environmental protests and high-tech swagger." The building's angular design has been widely praised. Predock has been quoted as saying that he designed the building "not as a "suit-and-tie" city hall, but rather as a reflection of the warm informality that characterizes Austin."
Austin is the capital of the State of Texas, as well as the seat of Travis County. With a population of just under one million residents, Austin is the 11th largest city in the United States. Posting close ups, of this big blog post...
All the pictures and credits in detail in my blog

Posting this image next, without the people, was a no-brainer. It's hard to believe that a large crowd of people was stood to my immediate right hand side. Wearing a pair of surf slippers, I was able to stand that bit further forward from the crowd. My main challenge was keeping my kit safe from the rushing swash.

Posting tonight as I have an early Dental appt tomorrow. Another shot taken in my yard. I find the less colourful female American Goldfinch every bit as attractive as the more vividly coloured males. Seen here backlit while perched on a Mountain Ash that was planted not so long ago.
My apologies for posting this photo from last year. My Photostream needs a bit of color variation... ;-)
Thank you very much for all your visits, faves, comments, group invitations, and gallery postings. I wish I had more time to thank you individually. I try my best to visit your photostreams in the limited time I have. Many thanks for your contributions to my groups.
I hope someone can see this posting as I am not receiving emails of contact uploads for the past two days , so apologies if I have not seen your work , I can see new postings on the mobile app and I am getting emails about activity on my photos . Looking at Flickr help I am not the only too.
Posting this for my brothers 50th birthday. He took this with my camera on North Uist. He was in the passengers seat which meant he was a little closer to the bird so I passed him the camera to have a go.
We must have seen 3 or 4 of these every day, at anytime during the day, and on other days more. You can see that this one has eaten very recently by the blood stains around the beak.
NOW POSTINGS A FEW IMAGES i TOOK MANY YEARS AGO, AND HAD VERY FEW FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS ON FLICKR.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISIT AND FRIENDSHIP..........GOD BLESS...................Tomx

Couldn't resist posting these lyrics :P
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge
Sometimes I feel
Like I dont have a partner
Sometimes I feel
Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of angel
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
I drive on her streets
cause shes my companion
I walk through her hills
cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds
And she kisses me windy
I never worry
Now that is a lie
I dont ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
Its hard to believe
That theres nobody out there
Its hard to believe
That Im all alone
At least I have her love
The city she loves me
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
I dont ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough
Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I gave my life away
I couldn't resist posting this shot taken earlier today. One of our village lakes has its own little "desert island". Just a tiny strip of land about 15 feet long and 5 feet wide in the middle of the small lake - complete with a single palm tree! Recently a pair of masked lapwings set up a nest and a couple of days ago, three healthy chicks joined the two parents as the entire population of the little desert island! I was again fascinated by the fact that I got so close without a murmur from the parent birds, but anyone else got swooped! I must be the masked lapwing whisperer! ; )
