We spent four years adventuring through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, seeing every corner of the place we are proud to call home. To mark our journey and make sure we saw as much as possible, we photographed every post office (134) in the Upper Peninsula. We saw amazing sights, met lots of wonderful people and had so much fun. We put a book of the photos together - to preview the book and see more, check it out on Blurb: bit.ly/1jPEKvq

This observation post was blown off of the bunker it was once fixed. The steel rods sticking out of the ground, were also once part of that bunker.

War damaged church. The standing water is in a bomb crater. I don’t really know but I suspect this in Palawan Island. Does anyone know?

Despite temperatures being slightly above zero degrees Celsius, the heat rising from the bottom of the Lovozero mine (-600m deep) allows succulent plants to grow easily by the main well. 470 miners still work day and night shifts here to extract titanium, niobium and tantalum7 The mine is located in the middle of the tundra in the Murmansk region in Russia.

"Die Fledermaus" opened at Dallas Opera tonight. I watched the show, cheered for my cast, laughed with the staff and went to the cast party. Still...no matter how much fun I have at an opening, I always come home feeling a little empty. My career is all about process. If I'm not working on something, I don't feel whole.

The Post office at Tintagel is one of the strangest buildings I have ever seen. Don't miss it if you visit Tintagel. It is probably more interesting than the castle.

This here is the post office in central Helsinki (found right beside Kiasma - the museum of contemporary art). Built in 1938 it represents functionalism. The architects names are Jorma Järvi and Erik Lindroos. The building in the background is the Sokos department store.

I was going to call it knob, but thought better about it.

Fort Union Trading Post was built in 1828 by John Astor's American Fur Company. Located at the junction of the Missouri and Yellowstone River, Fort Union wasn't a military fort. It served as a commercial trading post between the Northern Plains Indian Tribes and the American businessmen, who traded fur pelts for manufactured goods. It was the largest and most successful fur trading post along the Upper Missouri. Today's fort is a reconstruction and shows how it looked in 1851.
