In-between and after shooting with Bruna, I caught the rest of the MUNI Heritage Festival. At the end of the day, the busses put on a show leaving the event.

The Hudson River Ramble and Jay Day were a huge success!!

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) hosted its annual Fall Family Festival on Sunday, September 23rd celebrating American culture and traditions. Highlights included costumed tours of the Jay Mansion along with activities for all ages.

The event was organized by JHC's Young Preservationists, a group of parents committed to the adaptive reuse of John Jay's landmark home as a community learning center for children and adults, a place furnished with lively ideas and people, not just furniture. The fresh vision of these volunteers had great resonance last year as over 800 people showed up to applaud their efforts while munching on crisp autumn apples and sipping cider. Activities included parents and kids painting pumpkins and coring apples. The Jay estate was once itself a working farm with plentiful crops and gardens. Farmer's market offerings of pumpkin muffins and homemade jams on hand thanks to Meredith's Bread from Kingston while sweet cravings were satisfied by frosty organic Go-Go Pops from Cold Spring Harbor.

The place was filled with butterflies - vivid butterfly painted faces and balloon animals to take home courtesy of James Daniels.

Bruce Macdonald of Ashwood Restoration opened up his preservation workshop and explained the challenges involved in restoring the mansion's front door. Visitors could also see our latest exhibit on NY Genealogy and found out if they were related to some of NY's Founding Families including the Stuyvesants, Van Cortlandts, Jays, and more!

And at the 1907 Carriage House, families participated in an archaeaolgy dig and saw a sustainable dollhouse. But many parents and grandparents were also just content to sit in wicker rockers on the veranda to watch their children play and drink in the unequalled view of New York State's oldest man-managed meadow a vista famously dubbed "a time funnel" to the past.

The event was part of the Hudson River Valley Ramble weekend which celebrates American heritage in New York State.

A very cold post box in Hessle, East Yorkshire

In front of a famous location for Rail Buffs, at Teignmouth sea front -and not a 'Western' to be seen!

Close up of the front of the post office I built for an event the Irish postal service are holding with a speaker from Lego. I really should remember to keep my fingers out of the way when photographing models with reflective surfaces.

In the mountains, even in June, it gets cold pretty fast once the sun goes down around 8pm. If you want to extend your time outdoors, snuggling in a zero degree duck down sleeping bag is a good solution.

I enjoy both dawn and dusk in terms of observing wildlife and also just witnessing the majestic light transformation from night to day or vice versa.

The plan for the new van is to build an observation/sleeping deck on the roof, accessible by a boat hatch directly above the bed. The view from there should be impressive, especially in the desert.

A much better attempt at a post-apoc rifle. Comments are welcome!

Feel free to make any alterations to it, just gimme some credit, will ya? Here's the pastie: pastiebin.com/?page=p&id=4d541be3e81bb

When I was in high school in the mid-1960's, we lived near "The City" of San Francisco, in Pacifica, California, and I fell in love with San Francisco forever. I hadn't visited in many years when in March 2007 my cousin and her husband treated me to a trip to Union Square and the Theater District - and we went to see the hit play "The Jersey Boys" at the Curran Theater on Geary Street. (The play was absolutely FABULOUS!) Before and after the play, we walked around the area of Union Square and just enjoyed the beautiful weather, the "street scene", the cable cars, and the interesting and historic architecture. What a great day in a great city!

Here I took a photo of what I thought was an interesting old building with fire escapes, all painted green. What was interesting is that I found out later that my sister used to work in the building next to it many years ago!

MORE INFORMATION ON THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO:

The City and County of San Francisco is the fourth most populous city in California and the fourteenth-most populous in the United States, with a 2006 estimated population of 744,041. San Francisco is the second most densely populated major city in the U.S. San Francisco is located on the tip of the San Francisco Peninsula, with the Pacific Ocean to the west, the San Francisco Bay to the east, and the Golden Gate to the north.

In 1776, the Spanish settled the tip of the peninsula, establishing a fort at the Golden Gate and a mission named for Francis of Assisi. The California Gold Rush in 1848 propelled the city into a period of rapid growth. After being devastated by the 1906 earthquake and fire, San Francisco was quickly rebuilt.

San Francisco is a popular international tourist destination renowned for its chilly summer fog, steep rolling hills, an eclectic mix of Victorian and modern architecture, its large LGBT population, and its peninsular location. There are more than 50 hills within city limits. Famous landmarks include the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, the cable cars, Coit Tower, and Chinatown.

The San Andreas and Hayward Faults are responsible for much earthquake activity, even though neither passes through the city itself. It was the San Andreas Fault which slipped and caused the earthquakes in 1906 and 1989. Minor earthquakes occur on a regular basis. The threat of major earthquakes plays a large role in the city's infrastructure development. New buildings must meet high structural standards, and older buildings and bridges must be retrofitted to comply with new building codes.

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all.

Sneak peek from Lacey Davis' and Sean Cannon's proposal/engagement session. Honored to be part of a big moment for two wonderful people.

Many thanks to Jessica Smith for being my lighting assistant.

Another one from back in Noissy, this time straight down the central axis of the development. Nice bit of dirty concrete and a, ahem, 'classic' example of how post modernism raped the classical orders for token architectural gestures.

Third and fourth pictures down....

I was approached by a film company because they wanted to use my Delica while shooting a short film set in the near future.

They asked me to make it look as 'Post Apocalyptic' as possible. I did my best!

Fliming took place in South London on an abandoned/dereclict housing estate. A massive place with 2000+ apartments all empty. Quite eery!

I took these shots just after filming had finished and the crew had gone home. It made for a nice setting.
