I love portrait shots of birds! A couple of years ago I went to a city library where this Wood Duck shows up in the fall, although, he's not always there when you show up! He was on this day and at times I had to back up because he got too close...a wonderful opportunity for a portrait shot! I know I took hundreds of shots of this bird and posted one...as many of us do! So I revisited this folder and wanted to share this 'handsome dude'...:) End of my duck series...:))

Portrait shot of a Black Mamba, one of the deadliest snakes on the planet.

Commonly bigger than 3 metres, and also one of the fastest moving snakes in the world. Without treatment, you're more than likely to die after 7-15 hours!

Portrait shot of a life size Neanderthal Man figure from the Natural History Museum London.

Another urban portrait shot, loads more still to come! Coffee, cigarettes and loud music. The best break time involves stimulants.

Taken in the Hockley area of Nottingham. If I ever decided to become a singer and release an album I'd make this the cover. Only problem is I can't sing and have no musical talent whatsoever.

PORTRAIT SHOT, NOT TOO BAD LARGE.

Do I need to tell you how much I like this shot?

She is just gorgeous.

A series of portraits shot as a 'Model Test' session. The goal was to capture raw charisma and genuine spontaneity through a minimalist approach.

Switching to Black & White highlights the model's presence and the depth of her gaze. The lighting was a mix of late afternoon sun and a flash with an umbrella to enhance the details and create a professional, polished look.

From quiet intensity to dynamic movement, this series explores the versatility of a 'New Face'.

Place : Bern, Switzerland. (Apr, 2015)

This may look like a portrait shot but it is 3 stitched landscape files each made from 6 bracketed photos into a HDR Tiff file. It was taken using a 24mm shift lens so that the camera did not move, only the lens. The resulting picture is an enormous file but it is shown here as a reduced jpeg.

When I visited the wildlife park on Saturday I finally managed to watch the flight show of the birds of prey at their falconry. It was a great experience to see their wonderful birds flying free. I tried to take some photos but wasn't very successful. Taking action shots is always difficult for me and if the action goes on above my head it's virtually impossible. The bird in this photo is a red kite. It was quite windy and the red kite enjoyed to sail on the wind. I add a portrait shot of this bird in the comments.

I don't do many portrait shots, but I like how this one turned out. It's great to sit back on a bench while the kids play at the splash pad. It was a very sunny day, but for a moment the sun went behind a cloud to give me more softness on the face. I didn't do much to this. I liked it the way it was.

Great Blue Heron ( Ardea herodias ) portrait shot taken on the beach on Anna Maria Island, Florida.

Portrait shot of a male beautiful demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo) looking straight into the camera near the beaver pond at Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park.

Portrait shot of the sea stacks as the waves were receding.

I didn't catch her name but she was happy to let me take her portrait. Shot this during my last visit to Tokyo while walking around taking portraits of strangers in the street.

Five portrait shots stitched together have produced this view. It was taken on Hart Crag and looks east towards Hartstop Above How.

So I found this caterpillar of the scarce umber (Agriopis aurantiaria) about a meter and a half (5') up in a birch and was setting up a portrait shot and was just about to pull (push?) the trigger when an bright green aphid came walking along the same twig and didn't notice there was a caterpillar there and treated it like it was just part of the twig and walked all over it!

Now I was just a little too late to get all of the aphid in focus, but I think the end result turned out really nice anyway.

For a shot showing the entire caterpillar, plus the bunch of eggs some sort of parasite had laid on the side of it, go here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/50062268931/

I added some mesh cyber enhancements to my eyes and face as well. I also have the Intrepid Catsuit underneath everything.

Tomorrow, I'll do a close-up portrait shot of this outfit. I really like how it came out.

Now off to watch 'The Great British Baking Show'!

I love the textures of both the pavement and the worn centerline on this bridge. I think this would be a good location to come back and do some portrait shots.

I quite liked the take on Opheliawhich was totally accidental

This was one candid portrait shot, which I was initially reluctant to take.I just got amazed that such a beautiful young lady with one leg amputated was hiking at the Batasia loop at an altitude of over 6500 feet above the ground.

Here she poses for her family member to take the shot!

Salute to her strong determination

This is such a powerful source of inspiration

This is how, this young fox reacts to his mother when she shows up.

Which is all to often!

Mom, has ruined quite a few of my photo op's with this young fox by chasing him away.

He gets pretty vocal and then runs, with her chasing him.

Usually, if she wanders off he will come back all nervous and looking over his shoulder.

Since, the river froze over, I haven't been seeing much of him.

When I do, he is usually across the river.

I would love the get some closeup portrait shots of him in the deep snow.

Please view large.
