A refreshing spot for a swim.
On the RHS of those falls (out of the picture) is the handrail from which this pool is named. To get down into this area you must first negotiate your way down a very slippery rocky face aided only by hanging on to the handrail.
Evan, squirting Ava with the shark, as inevitably happens every time we get out the pool. She may or may not have splashed Evan first, but it's also plausible that Evan started it.
Strelley Pool Stromatolites with Chert. These remains of algal beds are the oldest known fossils on earth. They are from the Strelley Pool Formation of Archean age, about 3.43 billion years old. The dark bands are composed of keragen containing carbon isotopes consistent with biological origin. Pilbara, Western Australia, Australia. (Collection of the Cranbrook Institute of Science. Pool Party
Residents and prospective residents of the Highland Woods community in Elgin enjoyed an exciting pool party, complete with grilled foods, ice cream, leis, a magician, a steel drum band and games for the kids on Saturday, June 22.
The first class swimming pool aboard RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. The pool was permanently drained in the 1970's due to structural deficiencies below the pool area. This area of the ship in particular is believed to be haunted.
Taken in March 2008. A colour version is available next to this as well as a composite image showing the original unprocessed picture. The pool closure was announced in November 2007 with the recomendation that it be demolished as soon as possible. The closure was due to serious structural and health and safety problems and to make way for new housing as part of the Harlow Gateway Project (from the Herts and Essex Observer). Still standing and abandoned in July 2010.
