For this weeks photos I wanted to do close up shots with very little in focus. I love the blur with my 50mm f/1.4 lens. The plan was to do somewhat of just a headshot but that changed because it was hard to make it look similar to my other photos.
So I had an idea to do a pool boy shot by my friends pool with his shirt off. I had him wear sunglasses to help emphasize the fact that he is by the pool and had him shirtless also to help emphasize that. The warming filter makes him look a little tan which also adds to the concept of the photo.
The Roman Pool is decorated from ceiling to floor with 1″ square mosaic tiles. These glass tiles, called smalti, are either colored (mainly blue or orange) or are clear with fused gold inside. The intense colors and shimmering gold of the tiles combine to create a breathtaking effect. The designs created by the tiles were developed by muralist Camille Solon. The inspiration for some of these designs came from the 5th Century Mausoleum of Galla Placidia.
