We are having company, so I don't have time to post more right now.

Isn't she just precious?

Normal cats are born with 18 toes you know. Five toes on each of the front paws and four toes on each hind paw. Polydactle cats have more toes and usually on the front paws, although some have extra toes on their back paws too. Anyway so with polydactylism we find six or occasionally more toes on each front paw. ❤😻❤

Oh how Nessalina has grown, one of the first photos I posted of her has her in the same spot but siting up and almost the same height as she is in this photo while lounging.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Morning play time is the best play time, just don't ask Tigs to agree.

I was thinking Batman looked pretty cute on my new Kantha quilt, and I haven't taken any photos of him in a while. In the background, Jimmy is taking advantage of the fact that the ironing board is up--to grant him easy access to the drawer where I stow Puddy's food when other cats are allowed in her/my room. Fortunately, Jimmy doesn't have opposable thumbs with which to pull the drawer open.

Batman, on the other hand, does have opposable thumbs; he is a polydactyl with two extra toes on each front paw. They form a kind of thumb which he occasionally uses to improve his grip, but nothing as fancy as opening a drawer.

I think this may be the first time I have had a "tongue" shot ready on a Tuesday. Here's Batman, in the cat enclosure.

Happy Tongue Tuesday!

This set of four photos is for my friends who know about my orange cat Jimmy, who has great affection for this same dish drainer. Batman could be treading into dangerous waters, here, but so far Jimmy is none the wiser.

This cat seems to have "hit the cat food jackpot", encountering these two striped bass laid out on marsh grass after someone got lucky while fishing. Taken back in the fall of 1959, this is a copy made from a badly degraded Anscochrome color slide.

Folks often contact me to see if I have any use for old photographic equipment and accessories. Several years ago I was loading a few boxes of free stuff into my car when I noticed the "giver" was placing a few boxes out in front of her house for rubbish day trash pickup. One carton contained quite a few boxes of slides. Asking why they were getting tossed she mentioned that they were from someone who passed away years before and nobody in the family had any use for them. Hating to see the work of any photo enthusiast end up getting trashed, I snagged the lot. I wish the photographer was around so I could get some details regarding this image. I've taken photos of my catch on those rare occasions when I "got lucky" while surf-casting, but this shot is unique... beats them all.

Nessalina was unintentionally posed for a 'studio' portrait this morning and I jumped at the chance to grab this shot of her.

Mitzi 1987 - 2003

35mm film shot of Mitzi who was one of my sister's cat, Flower's kittens. She and her sister (and littermate) Rory each had 2 unplanned litters of their own. Flower, their mother, was polydactyl (had extra toes), but Mitzi wasn't. Several of her kittens were, though and her sister, Rory was.

Mitzi got breast cancer when she was 16 and we ended up having to put her down.

Batman's extra-toed front paws are tucked under him much of the time. The configuration of his extra toes works out well for him; the 2 extras on each front paw are grouped together almost like an opposable thumb. We were instructed to keep an eye on his claws because sometimes the tips of polydactyl claws could poke a pad in an uncomfortable way (over time or for particular cats). Batman's "thumb" claws fold flat under his foot like a lawn chair, so not much clipping is required.

This is the action shot of Batman that should have accompanied the more demure shot of him resting atop the stars.

Little Miss was feeling brave today and decided to spend some time in kitty jail with Tigs while we were all outside this afternoon.

Didn't last too long, a neighbour popped out to take his clothes off the line and that spooked her, but slowly, she's getting a little more comfortable outside. (as long as she's surrounded by her humans and Tigs)

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Can you spot Tig's in this photo? He's there, but Nessalina is holding on to the spotlight and missing the show outside the window...

She hasn't decided to hate my camera yet, so I'm going to enjoy her willingness to stay still and pose while I can. I'm sure it's a limited time situation.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

They are sitting by the computer--which, coincidentally, has proximity to the kitchen (where the food happens).

The painting on the wall is one I did of Orson, who was one of our "California" cats. He would have gotten along with these two swimmingly.

Musical chairs for the two cats today.
