Modern technologies require materials that are lightweight, with high mechanical strength, stiffness, flexibility and impact resistance. At the same time, they are expected to be low in cost, friendly to automation, simple in transportation, exploitation and recycling. Polymers in their variety – either thermoplastics or thermosets – combine to a certain extent some of these contradicting requirements. That is why polymers become more and more common tending to limit the use or even completely substitute in many applications more traditional materials such wood, metals and ceramics. Generally, traditional neat polymers display inferior mechanical properties as compared to most ceramics and metals. Hence, to meet the constantly growing industry requirements for mechanical resistance in tension, flexion and impact, polymers need to be reinforced, filled or otherwise modified thus producing polymer-based composites. A large window has opened for new applications of polymer composites with the broad introduction of micro- and nanotechnologies in polymer science. The intensive research in this area showed undoubtedly that changing the type, size, shape, volume fraction, interface, and degree of dispersion or aggregation of the different components enable great amount of unique combinations of properties with high potential for successful commercial development. In this context, finding a scalable and relatively low-cost method for facile dispersion of specific organic or inorganic fillers in conventional thermoplastic polymer matrices could be an industrially important pathway toward functional advanced composite materials combining, for example, magnetic susceptibility, electrical conductivity and high k properties. Such materials would have potential in radar absorbing materials (RAM) or in electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI) materials.
Novel binary thermoplastic composite materials are synthesized by a reactive microencapsulation method. The composites are based on polyamide 6 (PA6) matrix comprising two types of reinforcements: (i) microsized Al, Cu, Mg, and Fe powders and (ii) nano- or microsized carbon allotropes such as carbon nanotubes (CNT) and carbon black (CB).
This selected SEM image shows the morphology of the polyamide microcapsules (PAMC) loaded with Cu particles and CNT. The PAMC loaded with Cu/CNT, wherein the metal particles are in the 5-20 µm range, are porous, with scaffold-like morphology and the pores sizes being typically in the 250-500 nm range. In the foreground, the size and shape of a copper particle is well observed.

Crocheted in different kind of cotton yarn (except for the white dots, which are polyamide). Glitter glue added when finished. The mushroom is about 10,5 cm high.

Day two of assembly, and this is what I have so far. Everything is painted black (not so appropriate for the name Lux, but it helps to prevent light leaks), and I'm testing out the shutter and electronics. So far so good.
However, the dimensions on my laser cut parts were all screwy, which was mostly my fault. What a shame. It looks like I have to wait at least another week for my new parts to come in.

Made for shoe size 38/39 on 2 circulars 4mm. with Zitron Trekking Handart Colombo (75% wool/25%polyamide nylon/100 g/420 m) and Drops Alpaca (100% Alpaca/50 g/180m). Toe-up (Magic Cast-on technique by Judy Becker). Short Row Heel. One Skein Zitron Trekking together with 2 skeins of Drops Alpaca is enough is enough to make one pair. One thread from both types of wool are knitted together.
Red sock on the right:
Made for shoe size 38/39 on 2 circulars 4mm. with Zitron Trekking Handart Nepal (75% wool/25%polyamide nylon/100 g/420 m) and Drops Kid Silk (75%Mohair Super Kid/25% Silk/25 g/200 m).Toe-up (Magic Cast-on technique by Judy Becker). Short Row Heel. One Skein Zitron Trekking together with 1 skein of Drops Kid Silk is enough to make one pair. One thread from both types of wool are knitted together. This is the Rolls Royce of socks. The silk makes it super light and so so soft to the touch.
Pattern: Cookie A's Twisted Flower Socks modified in to a knee-high version.
Yarn: Valvilla Modella (65 %polyamide, 35 % wool; 50 g=160 m), 120 g.
Needles: 2,0 mm.
I love these! An absolutely beautiful cable and lace pattern from Cookie A, yet again.
I'm a big fan of knee-high socks and find them to be more versatile and useful than basic ankle-high socks. Therefore I made some modifications to the pattern. I'm so happy with the result, yay! :D

Đặc điểm chung của dòng tất tiêu chuẩn Châu Âu:
- Được làm từ Polyamide và Elastane (87% Polyamide, 13% Elastane) nên có các tác dụng:
+ Phòng ngừa và điều trị suy tĩnh mạch hiệu quả
+ Giúp làm giảm các triệu chứng: mệt mỏi, đau nhức, sưng chân…
+ Đặc biệt thích hợp cho những người đứng hoặc ngồi nhiều
+ Không có cotton nên không gây ngứa, dị ứng hay kích ứng da như các loại tất khác khác
- “DEN” là ký hiệu độ dầy mỏng của Tất. Loại mỏng mùa hè là dưới 20DEN, 30DEN trở lên cho thời tiết Thu, Đông.
- Quần tất có size: 1-3 cho người dưới 55kg và 4-5 cho người trên 55kg
Ở phương Tây, người biết phối hợp tất với các trang phục khác được xem là biết tôn trọng bản thân. Quan niệm bất thành văn này vẫn ngầm tồn tại suốt nhiều thế kỷ qua. Còn ở các nước phương Đông, phụ nữ dùng tất như để che đi một phần cơ thể hở ra, tránh rét và thể hiện sự tôn trọng, kín đáo vốn có. Tất cũng trở thành món trang sức không thể thiếu với các quý cô thời trang và sành điệu.
Rất mong bạn chọn được đôi tất vừa ý.
Mẹo dùng tất da chân:
Trước khi sử dụng: Tất lụa vừa mua về, bạn hãy cho vào ngăn đá tủ lạnh để một vài ngày rồi mới lấy ra dùng. Nó sẽ bền hơn một chút. Nên nhớ cách này chỉ dùng cho tất mới thôi, còn tất dùng rồi đã bị dão, sẽ không còn tác dụng.
Giặt và phơi: Do sự mỏng manh của nó, loại tất này “chống chỉ định” giặt máy. Thậm chí bạn cũng không nên dùng xà phòng mà hãy giặt bằng dầu gội đầu, vò thật nhẹ rồi phơi. Không nên dùng kẹp khi phơi và tránh tối đa việc phơi gần những trang phục có khóa sắt hay những thứ có thể gây xước tất. Bạn có thể cho ít dấm vào nước ấm và ngâm đôi tất đã được giặt sạch, sau khoảng 15 – 20 phút mới đem phơi. Như vậy, các sợi tất sẽ dai hơn. Với những loại tất xịn và dày dặn, một số người cũng giặt máy nhưng tránh rách bằng cách buộc tròn đôi tất lại và cho vào túi giặt nhỏ dành cho đồ lót, nhưng không để “áo chíp” cùng trong túi giặt đó vì các móc khóa có thể “làm tổn thương” đôi tất. Tuy nhiên, an toàn nhất vẫn là giặt tay.
Khi vết rách nhỏ: Nếu đôi tất giấy bị rách, xước một cách rõ rệt thì dù tiếc, bạn cũng đành bỏ nó đi. Nhưng nếu đang sử dụng và phát hiện vết rách, xước nhỏ, bạn có thể “sửa chữa” bằng cách chấm một chút sơn móng không màu vào, nó sẽ được “vá” và vết rách không lan rộng. Hãy làm việc này ngay khi chân bạn vẫn mang đôi tất đó, nghĩa là khi dùng tất giấy, bạn nên đem theo lọ sơn móng không màu trong túi xách.
Còn với những đôi tất không rách nhưng xù lên, bề mặt có những túm sợi nhỏ, hãy “làm mới” chúng bằng cách lộn trái để đi. Trông đôi tất lại mượt mà như cũ, nhưng bạn nên đi giày kín mũi để che giấu chuyện bạn đi tất trái.
Khi sử dụng: Điều cần nhớ trước hết để không phải mua tất mới thường xuyên là giữ móng tay, móng chân không bị xước. Nếu không, ngay cả đôi tất xịn cũng rách ngay khi bạn mang hoặc giặt nó. Làn da xù xì thô ráp cũng có thể làm đôi tất dễ xước hơn. Do đó, bạn nên tẩy da chết cho đôi chân và bôi kem dưỡng ẩm. Một công đôi việc: tất bền mà da bạn cũng đẹp hơn trong mùa lạnh. Và cuối cùng, kinh nghiệm của nhiều người dùng cho thấy, một đôi tất xịn tuy sẽ làm bạn xót ruột khi mua nhưng nếu tính trung bình số lần sử dụng thì lại đỡ tốn hơn tất rẻ tiền, mà trông lại đẹp và sang nữa.

Cable Protection Conduits.
Metallic flexible tube increases temperature and fire resistance, mechanical, tensile strength, abrasion and impact resistance.
Connectors and boxes can be supplied with cable protection coverage made of steel.
It can be a conduit or an external braid of galvanized steel (stainless steel upon request).
Conduits of polyamide (nylon) are available as well; their dimensions are bigger than conduits of steel, but they have a very good chemical resistance and sometimes they are cheaper.
Halogen free polyester braided sleevings can instead offer flexibility and high temperature resistance, 150°C working temperature, 200°C melting point.
Steel braid. In the case of metal braid, a further option is to put a second external sheath in order to protect the metal for outdoor applications, facilitating cable cleaning and preventing corrosion, but the diameter becomes bigger.
Steel flexible tube, compared to armoured (armored) cable, offers a better protection against crushing and could be even used just for a partial length; on the other hand its external diameter is bigger.
Applications with welding machines, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, food industry machinery, earth moving machines, lifting or air platforms, warehouse and moving goods plants.
Another interesting application is to prevent rodent (rats, mice) and termite attacks. In many areas steel armouring (armoring) is the best way to stop or reduce serious damage.

Afterthought Heel. The first time I tried the Afterthought Heel and I like this technique very much. It is so easy to do. One skein is enough for one pair.
A polyamide is a macromolecule with repeating units linked by amide bonds. Polyamides occur both naturally and artificially. Examples of naturally occurring polyamides are proteins, such as wool and silk. Artificially made polyamides can be made through step-growth polymerization or solid-phase synthesis yielding materials such as nylons, aramids, and sodium poly(aspartate). Polyamides are widely used in fabrics and have a variety of other uses. In this case the source of the polyamide was a pad that is commonly used for cleaning dishes.

Red, Green and Blue Peter Storm Nylon Cagoules. Outdoor rain wear or fashion icon?
Peter Storm made this style of Cagoule from the early 70's to the late 80's.
To keep up with fashion they were originally made from Bri-Nylon then Nylon and finally Polyamide. All of which are still Nylon! The fabric waterproofing also changed at least 3 times.
Sadly Nylon these days seems to be a bad word in todays fashion houses.
BAH, connoisseurs of such finery wear one on a bright sunny day I'm sure.
Connoisseurs beware: Strong Sunlight or more accurately ultra violet will bleach your colourful attire. So take care whilst sunbathing on the beach. Apply sunblock to your Cagoule too!
