Sunset on Golden Mountain's gentle safety slope...

Macro Monday: #Cloth

Crazy Tuesday: #Bokeh

Folded piece of reflective fabric. I bought it by the meter at modulor, a huge arts and crafts store in Berlin. I like to use it whenever I make bags, and for some reason or other I always seem to end up with circles in different sizes. The carrier cloth is made of 90 % polyamide and 10 % polyurethane, and the reflective coating consists of artificial resin and microscopically fine glass beads.

Focused on Golden Mountain's top (I got as close as possible with my lens), where you can see (kind of) those super tiny glass beads which also make a nice bokeh. I made Golden Mountain shine with three LED lamps - warm white light which turned the silver surface into gold (if only it was ever that easy to turn things into gold) - and a handheld small LED flashlight for that subtle hint of blue. Processed in Luminar 3, where I enhanced small, medium and large details (medium and large worked surprisingly well for this). I also applied a subtle cross processing filter ("Genf"), toyed with the "Golden Hour" filter, and reduced the noise on the background (both with an Orton glow and the noise reduction filter).

Please press "Z". A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!

I wanted my own cactus after seeing a lot of them on flickr so I made this one. Crocheted in green cotton yarn, white cotton/wool yarn and pink (sooo very soft!) polyamide yarn. The cactus is removeable so I can hide things inside it! ♡

The camera view from a satellite after it unfurled a sail like a ship of old – although its purpose was not to start a journey but only hasten its fall back to Earth.

The Drag Augmentation Deorbiting System Nano (ADEO-N) – a 3.6-sq-m aluminium-coated polyamide membrane attached to four metallic booms – deployed from a 10 cm box aboard the ION Satellite Carrier. Launched in 2021, this is a satellite platform flown by D-ORBIT in Italy, used to deliver miniature ‘CubeSats’ into their individual orbits.

By increasing the overall area of the satellite, ADEO-N sail will increase the gradual air drag acting upon it from atoms at the top of the atmosphere, and speed up its atmospheric reentry accordingly.

The technology was developed by HPS in Germany through an ESA General Support Technology Programme project, developing and testing promising space technologies. Previous versions have already been deployed but this in-flight test represented the final technological proof-of-concept for the ADEO family.

ESA structural engineer Tiziana Cardone oversaw the project: “The ADEO-N sail will ensure that the satellite will reenter in around one year and three months, while otherwise it would have reentered in four to five years.”

The aim is to contribute to ESA’s Zero Debris Initiative – as ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher has remarked: “If you bring a spacecraft to orbit you have to remove it.”

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a monthly challenge called "Freestyle On The Fifth". A different theme chosen by a member of the group each month, and the image is to be posted on the 5th of the month.

This month the theme, "Sparkle" was chosen by Lisa (red stilletto).

Whilst I was on holidays, I visited the National Gallery of Victoria Ian Potter Centre at Federation Square. I was looking for a particular stained glass window that I wanted to photograph. Whilst I was wandering through the galleries, I chanced upon this sparking evening gown.

This platinum dress was designed by young Australian born Paolo (Paul) Vasileff for the Paolo Sebastian Fashion House in Adelaide. Paolo Vasileff presents two collections each year, often featuring hand-embroidered fabrics and beading. His collections are inspired by distinct themes and the fashion house is known for telling stories, fables or faerie tales through fashion. This work, inspired by the American Express platinum card, was commissioned for the National Gallery of Victoria Gala 2018 red carpet event. It features many of his signature elements including a dramatic sculptural cut, complex construction and heavily detailed surface embellishments of sparking sequins and beads in a peacock motif, all executed by hand.

3D printed polyamide.

Synthetic is now so much part of our lives, how will we ever get rid of that?

Unless a new something, lees harmful, is invented, to replace it

A lot of questions.

Thank you for your time and comments, greatly appreciated, M, (*_*)

I have long dreamed to create BJD Wolf before. And I was started to do a big wolf, but project was frozen due to lack of time.

As you can see, I was lucky to walk with wolf-cubs(album Biostation «Clean forest»).

And some time ago I started to create BJD wolf puppy(in between the priming of my lady-dragon ^_^). Now, while the dragon waits for her turn to cast, I continue to finish the sculpt.

This cub will be 3D printed(polyamide) painted BJD.

Someday I will finish big wolf project too.

Polyamide, or nylon, is a very strong plastic that holds up against high impact, lending itself to connectors and gears, even in non-LEGO machinery, where durability is more important than perfect coloration. LEGO used nylon as far back as the 1960s for flexible vehicle couplings (pictured right), although today most of these have hardened and are very brittle. Modern Technic bricks with pins, such as 42929, are dual-molded so the brick part is ABS and the pin is PA (this is why they show up in BrickSet as “multicombination”, even though it’s the same color throughout).

Only the earliest clip plates (from Classic Space sets) use this material. I would guess that modern ones use PC.

Crocheted crochet case/étui for my crochet stuff (scissors, needles, hooks). Very useful! ♡ Inspired by similar cases here on flickr (like this and this) and by the Hook Roll case by Lauren Irving in Kim Werker's book Get Hooked Again.

Crocheted in green woolyarn, edges in white polyamide, string in white cotton/wool and little pink flowers in cotton yarn.

A fishing net or fishnet is a net used for fishing. Nets are devices made from fibers woven in a grid-like structure. Fishing nets are usually meshes formed by knotting a relatively thin thread. Early nets were woven from grasses, flaxes and other fibrous plant material. Later cotton was used. Modern nets are usually made of artificial polyamides like nylon, although nets of organic polyamides such as wool or silk thread were common until recently and are still used.

Here you can see how the lens extends during focusing, due to the helical movement. There's a small notch on the lens that indicates that focus distance. On the left side of the camera, you can also see the aperture wheel, shutter speed selector, and film winding knob. On the front face, there's a PC sync port and the shutter button. There should be a red LED light around the shutter button but I burned it out by accident :(
