Jackson Pollock ( 1912 – 1956) was an American artist famous for his technique of pouring or splashing liquid paint onto a canvas placed horizontally on the floor, seen here in his large studio with one of his creations, other completed paintings in background. In October 1945, Pollock and fellow artist Lee Krasner were married in a church with only two witnesses present for the event. They bought a wood-frame house and barn at 830 Springs Fireplace Road, Long Island, Pollock converted the barn into a studio and in that space he perfected his "drip" technique of working with paint, with which he would become permanently identified. I think this looks like an abstract painting.

Well one morning it was raining so I decided to pay a visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. I've been to the Guggenheim in Bilbao a couple of times but this a much smaller intimate place, in fact it used to be Peggy Guggenheim's home. It has an exquisite collection of modern art and some of the visitors were interesting too and strayed in front of my lens. I wish we'd had art teachers like this lady at our school when I was there ! She's talking to her class about Jackson Pollock and the work Alchemy on the wall which is by him.
