Jackson Pollock ( 1912 – 1956) was an American artist famous for his technique of pouring or splashing liquid paint onto a canvas placed horizontally on the floor, seen here in his large studio with one of his creations, other completed paintings in background. In October 1945, Pollock and fellow artist Lee Krasner were married in a church with only two witnesses present for the event. They bought a wood-frame house and barn at 830 Springs Fireplace Road, Long Island, Pollock converted the barn into a studio and in that space he perfected his "drip" technique of working with paint, with which he would become permanently identified.
