There's something about polkadots.......I can't get enough of them

Six to go baby!

I like to experiment with techniques, and have recently tried physically intervening with the film negative. The polkadot series started with photographing a number of buildings and parks using a 6cm x 9cm medium format camera. After processing, I used a 10mm punch and a hammer to knock out discs of film, which I then placed into the empty spaces of a different similarly treated negative. Finally I scanned the negatives and made simple adjustments to levels and contrast. This is a selection of six details from "The Diamond", a new building at the University of Sheffield.

Oh what a happy place I discovered on my trip to San Francisco last fall... a store called The Ribbonerie!

I finally finished my Polka Dot Sampler a few weeks ago. I got it back from the long arm quilter in the summer and it took me forever to do the binding. In total, it took me about a year and a half to finish this quilt. Now that it's finished, I can't for the life of me understand why as the quilt turned out so great.

I used all of my Michael Miller Ta Dot prints, with some Amy Butler Full Moon Polka Dots and one Kaffe Fasset's Dots print thrown in. In the end, I couldn't come up with enough actual blocks to finish this quilt, so I opted to simply use the polka dot fabrics for every other block. It turned out to be a good choice, as now the quilt isn't so dominated by white.
