this is Jazz
we met when i lived in Sacramento
upon first meeting
she took me to a cafe
that served their chai tea lattes
in small bowls
this brought back a happy
and sweet childhood memory
of a friend and i
drinking our kool-aid
as if we were cats
out of little bowls
i told Jazz this
and showed her
and we both continued to drink
our chai lattes in this way
lapping up the sweetness
it was so difficult!
but talking together was easy
effortless
as if we knew each other always
we could share in many many
sad stories
but just as easily laugh together
and share our joy
we lost touch
after a couple years
with moves between us
i think about her often
and still
i consider her to be
a true friend
and i was lucky to have her
as long as i did

Polaroid Week 2021
day 6 | no. 1
One more picture to upload to cap off this week. I've yet to decide what it will be. I always get a little sad and wistful at the end of a 'roid week. This time is no different. I miss the community and connections that took root on Flickr more than a decade ago. Many of those connections exist elsewhere on social media now, but it's not the same. It's weird that the space on a server somewhere can have a distinct character, but Flickr really did. 'Roid Week is a reminder that that character still exists in some small way.
DAY 3
IDUV
Backyard snag that makes an excellent spot to birdwatch. Pileated Woodpeckers, Northern Flickers, Fish Crows, Sharp-Shinned Hawks, Red Shouldered Hawks, Turkey Vultures and Hummingbirds even perch on it. The best though was when a single Green Heron sat atop it and called and sunned itself in the morning sun.

Not exactly what I had planned, but to be fair, it's hard to plan a Polaroid double exposure. It's probably 40% skill, and 60% chance because I never really know what the final result will be. But as long as I think a little about what I want, I get some crazy fun results. Making Caroline fade out of reality is very fun, and I look forward to doing it again one day.

I've been working everyday for a month solid, and I don't have a day off in sight. That being said, I'd give up all of the sleep I do get to shoot with Allison again, because this shoot was a great panacea for the dullness of a working life.
To be fair though, Allison is currently on the opposite coast at the moment enjoying a road trip, so I don't want to interrupt. I can wait until she gets back.
