In June 2019, Starr visited the Macro Mondays Art Gallery. Going through my old photos I found this one taken the same day. Starr was never aware there was a polar bear standing behind her.
The sun was setting, the air was cold, the barren Arctic Ocean was lapping against the shore. Ice already forming on the horizon, a cold wind was blowing, temperatures were cold, a perfect day for the polar bear, harsh for the human. Sitting alone with a polar bear walking by not 100 feet away, protected by sheet metal of a vehicle, the photographer's heart was pounding. Kaktovik, a few minutes to my back, if the truck engine failed, the polar bear would be no match for the car. Thinking of how those who live here both now and in the past, have endured the presence of the polar bear and have embraced the bear's presence. Nanook, the Eskimo word for the polar bear, friend, foe, enemy and companion. What a magnificent animal, to think that it may be on the brink of extinction, breaks the photographer's heart.
This was probably one of the most magical moments when a Polar Bear came of the sea ice and swam towards the boat. Probably it was hoping that one of the passengers would fall over the side and it would have lunch or perhaps it was just interested. It does show that these animals are not scared of anything.
Taken it at the Kansas City zoo. I've been going to the zoo for many years, but I never got to see the polar bear because she always stayed inside the building during the summer. But it was nice and cold outside so she was enjoying the weather.

Another photo of a polar bear from a trip I took to Svalbard after taking early retirement in 2013. I only just noticed the black tongue.
The polar bear's fur is transparent and holds no colour. It only appears white because it reflects visible light. They also have black skin, which is better able to absorb the Sun's energy.
We were so lucky to find this Polar Bear mom with 3 two year old cubs on the pack ice. It is rare for a female to successfully raise 3 cubs. And this 'super mom' has done it three times. She must be an awesome hunter. When we first came upon them they were feeding on a Bearded Seal kill. The cubs look almost full grown and will probably leave mom and be on their own soon.

Taken just off the coast of Greenland on the ice floes.
What does one seal plus one seal equal ? That's a hard question mum but I am thinking about it.
My interpretation:
Cub 1: “Mom, let’s play!”
Crystal (Mom): “Don’t you dare hit me!”
Cub 2: “I’m going to stay out of this.”
The mother, Crystal, gave birth to twin male cubs in December, 2022. The cubs are named Kallik and Kallu, which is Inuit for lightning and thunder. The bears’ keepers said those names described the cubs personalities.

A polar bear ranges across the treeless tundra atop the 250-meter cliffs of Akpatok Island, Nunavut, Canada, in search of seabird nests.
I came early to the Zoo to draw elephants. They decided not to come out Sunday morning :) So, the polar bears, usually occupied by kids were all mine! The male bear (center left) and the female (center right) enjoyed the cool time, swimming (upper right), playing and walking. This was my first sketching session of bears so I've spent some time watching the moves. The female seemed pregnant how nice :>)
There is a glass between them. So the polar bear never catch the seal.
アザラシを見ると、野生の血が騒ぐんでしょうか、何度も捕まえようとします。アザラシのほうはまったく動じていません。アザラシの方が頭がいいんですかね。
This ornamental Bear was so large to photograph l had to crop it to its face only. It was seen at a "Frozen" themed display at a local garden centre.
The polar bear is a large bear native to the Arctic and nearby areas. It is closely related to the brown bear, and the two species can interbreed. The polar bear is the largest extant species of bear and land carnivore by body mass, with adult males weighing 300–800 kg.

A colourful mural of a sleeping polar bear fills an exterior wall of the temporary holding facility known as "polar bear jail" in Churchill, Manitoba. The sky is filled with the soft sunrise colours of pink and blue as clouds move onshore from nearby Hudson Bay. A light dusting of windswept snow covers the ground.
