Wishing my Flickr friends a Merry Christmas.

Excerpt from www.simcoepanorama.ca/:

The Simcoe Christmas Panorama has grown to more than 60 displays and 500,000 lights. Hundreds of decorated trees and our displays turn Simcoe’s downtown parks into a winter wonderland that generations have been enjoying for over 60 years. Come experience the magic and enjoy horse drawn trolley rides, character meet and greets, and a warm cup of hot chocolate while you walk under the lights at the Simcoe Christmas Panorama River of Lights!

AAW December 10 - 17: All About Ernst Haas

WIT: I had never heard of Haas before, and I'm glad I got to know his work. I really love his street photography, but unfortunately I did not have the time this week to go out to shoot in the city. I decided to try to emulate his floral shots. I noticed he used colour to create a feeling in the photo, and his colours are often quite saturated, with dark backgrounds. He also often had a bit of softness in some of his floral shots. I tried to do this with my image. I had some lovely Christmas flowers that I shot here. In post, I darkened the background, and tweaked the colour - I added a bit of blue to the red pointsetta, as I think Haas sometimes had similar tones to some of his colours. I also added a glow to the image to recreate the softness.

Bodey is in the Christmas mood .. or maybe just contemplating.

This lovely little pointesettia was a gift from dear friends who visited for dinner recently. It was the first sign of Christmas to appear in our home this year. A few other hints of the season are appearing. The outdoor lights are up, the rest of the outdoor decorations will get be tomorrow. Tonight there's a batch of meringues in the oven - early baking to send to our family out west. ODC - red and black.

This is the courtyard adjacent to the Visitor Center as you enter the Gardens. It's especially appealing this time of year when it's decorated with pointsettia!

In this time of doom and gloom, it was a delight to see the carefree (albeit masked) little girl. In fact, there were far more children this day then I'd remembered from past visits, and the sound of their joyful laughter was music to my ears!

Here I am sharing some quality time with my new friend Miss Pointsettia, otherwise knows as a Christmas Bush. We're both struggling here, as it was 33 Celcius that evening and the AC didn't quite reach into this room!

The leaves of this plant are fascinating, water just rolls off and doesn't soak in at all.

My Best Of 2013 set is here

Strobist - simple one this time, I just bounced a diffused yn560-II flash off the ceiling to give soft, even lighting.

With the closing of the year comes a light in the darkness, the hope of a new start, a better world.

Aloha kākou! Perhaps we're still a month off from the Solstice, from Christmas, from Hanukkah, from the Season of Light... but it's been a difficult year, and the light and hope that that season brings can't come too early for me.

Bee and Solace from Silvan Moon Designs bring us the lovely Prima Donna gown, a lovely exclusive at Enchanted this month.

Prima Donna comes in seven beautiful colours. I fell in love with several of them... but the holiday feeling hit me so strongly that I just had to share Emerald with you. The Holly crown from .AiShA. and the Pointsettia 'n Bells necklace and earrings from EarthStones just matched too perfectly to miss!

And lastly... please stop by and visit the lovely Savor Serenity sim. My dear friend Gidgy is one of the most wonderful sim builders I know. Please stop by and enjoy the beauty there!

My lovely friends, don't miss a single opportunity to find joy, to encourage joy. Aloha nō!

Only worth viewing large...

Thanks to all for viewing, faving and/or commenting! Much appreciated! L

Every year I buy at least one pretty pointsettia.I love the different reds and pinks and cream colors they come in lately, but this one was actually more red...the setting on my camera distorted the color a bit, but I rather like it! #185 Explore Dec. 15

Not quite shrubbery, the Tin Soldier (or Nutcracker) is flanked by Christmas trees and has at his feet poinsettias. He has to be careful where he steps. Fortunately, he can't move at all.

Euphorbia myrsinites ( A.K.A Donkey Tail Spurge)

For those curious minds: No, this plant is not a succulent. It is, however, very closely related to the Christmas Pointsettia - they are both Euphorbias. Hard to believe, isn't it? What you see in this photo is the tip of a longer 'branch,' hence the reference to donkey tails.

...gotta upload at least one pointsettia! Didn't get for that walk this AM but hubby and I are going for a drive to catch some snowy wonderland...he is patiently waiting...catch up later.. On explore at 466 Jan 3- thanks Nejire!

This poinsettia stood out among it's peers - I'd never seen one with this coloring. The only one like it, a large section of the stem had broken off and some of the flower petals were bruised and torn. Even the woman at the store checkout looked at it with disdain and reduced the price without us asking. We thought it was lovely, which just goes to show you that beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. To my Flickr friends, I hope you have a wonderful Holiday! Even if you don't celebrate Christmas, I sincerely hope that happiness and peace will prevail so we can all see the beauty life has to offer.

Looks like it will be in bloom for Christmas

although I did not purposely put it through a dark period.
