Ruby is a Gloucestershire Old Spots pig who was rescued from a "pastured pork" operation. Even though the pigs get to live outside, runty piglets are still killed. A visitor to the farm offered to take the piglet off the farm's hands and they agreed. She nursed little Ruby back to health and now Ruby lives at Animal Place. She will be spayed and then introduced to the other pigs. She is one cute piglet!!
There have been a number of different vehicle on the 22c of late, Arriva liveried vehicles being very much in the minority, although I don't recall Darts of this series appearing before.
Light from a laser pointer shining through my hands and reflecting back on my face.
Actually quite difficult to pull this off. Had to set the camera up on tripod, figure the basic position for hands and face, turn lights off, remotely trigger shutter, trace laser pointer behind hand with other hand, then close shutter and try again and again until everything was centered and as clean looking as can be. After a couple attempts it gets very difficult to hold yourself in place!

Normally referencing a food object, this pointer had long been broken and merely referenced an empty spot on the bar.
I'm sometimes surprised with how many people think Jiggs is a pup... look at that beard :-P He's quite the "distinguished" pooch.

I took my three dogs to the local waterhole for swimming and play time.
Ronin was useless, Sunni stuck by my side and Kayo was brilliant and worked the ducks perfectly.

Renown Transport Services own this Dennis Dart/Transbus Pointer SN53AVC. It came from Lothian Buses, Edinburgh in March 2015. It is seen here in Rye.
i know for some of you this photo isn't easy ... and i do feel the need to explain. wirehaired pointers are serious hunters ... some refer to them as the most versatile hunting dog. they are bred for 'sharpness', and matea certainly eptomizes this aspect of the breed.
please know that this girl is highly trained, and if i ever happen to see a groundhog (even after she's already got her sights on it), i will stop her. i would never send her off to deliberately kill anything.
however, if she's already got the groundhog, the worst thing i can do is call her off, leaving the animal maimed and suffering. matea is extremely efficient, and although this large hog was a battle for her, it was still over in under 25 seconds. most are dispatched well within 3 seconds.
part of owning a dog is being able to let them be dogs, to understand and answer their drive and their instincts (within reason, of course!), even though it's not always pretty.
