A long exposure from a recent trip to Cobbolds Point. On first inspection I considered this image to be over exposed but on taking a second look I thought it perhaps wasn’t that bad after all.

This week's print for Ukraine is number 19 in the series. It is called "Inflection Point." This is the concave facade at the northwest corner of the Rainier Square Tower in Seattle, Washington. (It is visible from the intersection of 4th Avenue and Union Street.) Through Thursday July 21, all proceeds from the sale of Inflection Point go to UNICEF for the benefit of Ukrainian children. Lime point lighthouse under the north tower of the Golden Gate bridge is a fascinating spot and made a great subject this morning as I was waiting for the sun to come up. This rusty looking structure is quite off limits to the public but I have seen people over there from time to time.
Lime Point Lighthouse has been in place since 1883, half a century before the GGB was built.

Taken on Lake Couer d'Alene, Idaho. The contrast between the Point and Mineral Ridge in shadow across Wolf Lodge Bay caught my eye.
Lizard Point, is Britain's most southerly point. The area is famous for its dramatic cliff walks, wild flowers and geological features. The point is a spectacular location with steep cliffs and stunning views.
Yaki Point is the only scenic viewpoint on Desert View Drive that is not accessible with a private vehicle. It can be reached using the free Kaibab/Rim Route (Orange) shuttle, departing from Grand Canyon Visitor Center. It's a decent location to see both sunrise and sunset. This is an early morning photograph with the canyon still mostly in shade.

This is the third image I have made using Zerene Stacker software. After improving my technique, I hope to use this software to produce better and more dynamic images. This particular shot was taken during the time I had before getting in to the main reason for this trip, which was more of a scouting and learning mission for a new project.

"A much-photographed Tomales Bay icon, the derelict fishing boat the Point Reyes, was severely damaged by a mysterious fire early Monday morning, and comments from angry Inverness residents are burning up social media over the loss of this beloved local landmark."

I kept starting to write "Pigeon Point" for some reason. Perhaps because both lighthouses are the same general style and almost exactly the same hieght.
Anyway, one day, I went up to the Point Arena Lighthouse in Mendocino County for the sunset and took this.
Due to the mid-level clouds, the color came and went fast. But, what it lacked due to brevity, it made up for with good color and texture, I think.
Thanks for having a look!

i popped up the coast in search of dark skies and a possible Aurora - but ended up with cold toes and a couple of shooting stars

Winter light and haze at Point Sur, California.
This is not the first time a photograph has been made of this subject from this camera position, to say the least. (Earlier today I ran into an Ansel Adams photograph of essentially the same subject, photographed from a position a short distance to the left.) The feature at the far right is Sur Point, the site of a lighthouse that has been here for a very long time and which was once one of the most isolated places along this part of the California coast.
Recently I’ve been pondering — not for the first time! — working in ways that focus o the larger forms in a scene and reduce the presence of small details. I’m also interested in how I can produce the glowing, luminous effect of fog and haze that is backlit by low angle sun. This scene seemed right for the approach, since the atmosphere was filled with thin fog and high, thin clouds softened and diffused the light.

Another flashback from my trip to Alaska, this time in Skagway, AK. Such a beautiful city. At the end of the stay someone recommended a small hike out to Dyea Point, boy was it worth it. Do you agree?
Start Point lighthouse on the island of Sanday, Orkney.
Unfortunately the lighthouse is on a little island that is only accessible 1 hour either side of Low Tide so this is as close i could get this visit.
The West Point Lighthouse has been serving seafaring Islanders since May 21, 1876 and is the tallest lighthouse on PEI at just over 20m, the rock used for the foundation ballast had to be shipped into the area from Nova Scotia as there is a scarcity of accessible bedrock in this area. The last keeper Bernie MacIsaac spent 38 years maintaining the light and never missed a single night during the season but never lived here except in the evenings as he had 15 kids and a wife to look after a few miles down the road. After automation of the light a local group took over the upkeep and in 1984 turned the lighthouse into a museum, gift shop and a 3 room inn (later adding 7 more rooms) opened as Canada’s only Inn in a Lighthouse.
