I've always wanted to capture these. It was a breezy day - not normally helpful but it was in this case, blowing the seeds into a nice rosette for me.
"Apteka pod Złotym Tygrysem" (The Golden Tiger Pharmacy) is located at Szczepańska Street in Kraków, in "Dom pod Gruszką" (The Pear House).
The Pear House was built around the year 1300. It is situated in the corner of the Main Square, where city planners thrust their first stick when they were establishing the new city according to the Great Charter of 1257. According to the city archives, the house belonged to a certain Voyt Ludwik. In the end of the 14th century the house was raised, and the third floor was added.
As a legend says, in early 1386, shortly before her marriage with Ladislaus Jogaila (Władysław Jagiełło), Queen Jadwiga of Poland hid her true love, Wilhelm, Duke of Austria, in this house, so she could have secretly meeting him. Soon Wilhelm was chased away from the city by the Polish nobles, and Jadwiga was forced to marry old and savage Jogaila (Jadwiga was declared a saint of the Catholic Church in return! ;) - which certainly changed history of Poland and the whole region.
Among notable residensts of the Pear House was Maciej Miechowita, the 16th century court medic of King Sigismund the Old, and the eight-time rector of the Krakow Academy (the today's Jagiellonian University).
In 1683, in the Pear House, Queen Marie Casimire (known as Marysieńka) was waiting for news from Vienna, where her husband King Jan III Sobieski was commanding the Christian army fighting the Ottoman Turks.
In the begining of the 18th century the building was remodelled by the commission of the then owner, Andrzej Żydowski, the City Judge of Kraków; on the first floor of the house the so-called Fontana Chamber was created, considered by many to be the most beautiful chamber in Poland. Its walls are covered with early 18th century Dutch tiles, and the ceiling of the chamber is decorated with baroque stucco by Baltazar Fontana.
In the 19th century, the first floor of the house used to host the ladies only' club of the famous Sauer Café, later Ziemiańska Café, and now it is occupied by the Polish Journalists' Association.
The pharmacy located on the ground floor of the building was established in 1814, and was originally named "Pod Jeleniem" (The Dear Pharmacy). In the half of the 19th century, its owner sold the pharmacy to Józef Dąbkowski, who has renamed it to "Pod Złotym Tygrysem" (The Golden Tiger Pharmacy).
A macro of one of the seed pods I collected this fall from the many trees on the Notre Dame campus.

I've tried several times to get a decent photo of tricyrtis seed pods. This is the first time I've thought I had something worth showing.
Thanks to my fellow flickrati, imoongypsy, for taking time out from our night photo excursion to pose with these strange pods, in the huge metal barrel.

Once again I can report a serious lack of revision today :) but due to the history exam on tuesday and German(s) on wednesday, and the fact i'm on study leave and have no exam, that will all change tomorrow....maybe

I mix all my own greens.
Found the problem with my ring flash and it is working again. Apparently it does not like rechargeable batteries. This seed pod seemed like a good choice to get back into the swing of things with it.

No more bunched up diapers in the bottom of your diaper bag! I love these little Diaper pods. They are fully lined and have a snap or Velcro closure.
These are custom made with fabric of your choice.
I'm adding some mosaics a bit at a time to my Etsy shop, this piece can be found here: www.etsy.com/listing/111365333/glass-mosaic-pod-thingie

This Milkweed pod has just opened and the seeds are still tight in the pod. As time passes those seeds will loosen up and drift away to start the next generation of Milkweeds.
