This little pod was just that- tiny. There are five little swivel seats inside, each is about the size of your average toilet seat. They are crammed so close together that for five adult people to sit together, their knees would be jammed together. And the door shuts, so you're locked into this very small chamber that seems like something out of the beginning of Star Trek.

I've been slowly catching up on my POD by doing all the blocks at once instead of one block at a time. I had everything clearly labelled, but still managed to mess up the books. If you look closely and know how things are supposed to go, you'll see the books for block 7 and 8 are a little different from the standard. I'm not too worried.
I do wish I had chosen a different background. I thought I had a neutral, but it is way too busy. Live and learn, I suppose.
It is a gray day here. This tree outside my office has these gnarly dried pods on it. I captured a quick snap on my way out of the car. No filter, and rather poorly framed, but it's a little raw outside and I was eager to get inside.
Well - either mini aliens have landed in my garden or this is a ladybird on its way out perhaps? I've seen evidence of ladybird larvae on the plant and am assuming that this is one in a state of metamorphosis.

I am experimenting with Gimp, so am pulling out some older photos to play around with. I am craving feedback on my attempts! Here is the original.
This one took forever because I wanted to use a different yellow for the shield. I swear I only have two yellows in my entire stash. I went to the quilt store twice and forgot to pick up a yellow both times. Not my color, I suppose.

Oxalis pods. (aka Wood Sorrel)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxalis_corniculata Creeping/Recumbent Yellow Wood Sorrel- apparently the pods EXPLODE!
Could also be en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxalis_stricta Common Yellow Wood sorrel, which has the same yellow flowers and explosive effect.
Apparently the main difference between these two species is that one always creeps on the ground (corniculata) and the other is "erect when young," but "later becomes decumbent as it lays down, and branches regularly."
"Both plants are perennial; however, the main difference between the two is that yellow woodsorrel spreads by below-ground rhizomes (stems that creep below the ground), and creeping woodsorrel spreads by stolons (stems that creep above the ground)."
