I gathered these seed pods and scanned them, then used Photoshop to turn the scan into a silhouette of the shapes. I used them as a stencil for etching glass with a sandblaster. I thought I'd make the template available for general use. If you use all or part of this image please drop me a line with a link so I can see what you've done with it.
Fabulous pod just laying on the ground. The seeds are so vivid.
The structure of the pod is so well designed.

Late afternoon light shines through these pods in our back garden here in Crestline. Huge acorns have fallen to the ground.
Finally my datura seed pod is ripe! It cracked during the night. This plant was grow from seed in the month of march. So it took 7 month from seed to seed.

Calama pide una retribución permanente de varios millones de dólares anuales, que le son negados. En Santiago, Chile, Capital de este país se hace inversiones millonarias con dinero que sale desde Calama. Se burlan diciendo "vamos a descongestionar el sector de xxxx, con una inversión de 500 millones de dólares", o "estamos invirtiendo 100 millones de dólares en el camino a la cancha de esquí de Farellones" y así sucesivamente. Este movimiento, tipo protesta, comenzó en forma pacífica, pero cuando las personas mencionaron que iban a recrudecer su protesta, aparecieron las fuerzas policiales, provocando a los manifestantes, incluso tirando agua con algún ácido a personas que sólo iban con banderas..., hubo abuso de poder. A mí, como fotógrafo, me tiraron un líquido a la cara, acción que dejé grabada en un video que también publico.

Pod had a successful tour business in Khao Lak, Thailand. He would act as a guide to tourists who wished to experience the natural beauty of the National Parks, whilst his wife would run the agency and take bookings. They had a young son, and Pod’s wife was 5 months pregnant with their second child.
This particular day he left home as usual, the weather was fine, and he was leading a group on an excursion into Khao Sok National Park...........

This machine is used to test the spreading abilities of pod batches. The sample is examined for 'star burst'. A star burst is were impurities cause a clear spec in the emulsion.

This is some type of seed pod that fascinated me. I do not know what type of plant it is sorry to all that may view.
Bought these message seeds from a souvenir shop in Jioufen, Taiwan. Basically, messages are engraved on the hull of the pod (shaped like a lima bean, and slightly bigger than an almond) and when you plant the seed, the message, which has penetrated to the cotyledon (leaf of the embryo inside the seed) pops up following the unfurling of the leaves.
Today's Photos of the Day is actually two photos of the same yucca plant. This is the seed pod the plant produces every summer after the flowers drop off. Snapped just South of Del Rio, Texas.
I really can't decide if I like this better in color or B&W. so I'm going to post both and see which one garners the most interest. If you have an opinion, please share it in the comments below.
