First fix plumbing complete, well almost. It turns out we engaged a plumber with vertigo and a unhealthy family. Firstly, he flatly refused to go up a ladder and fix the compost toilet chamber risers to the top of the building. He then disappeared completely for four days, allegedly to visit a sick uncle. Unable to complete the floor skim until the waste system was installed the build came to a halt. Even now the risers aren't right, they need mushroom caps on not right angle vents but I'm waiting for the plumber to go before I install the correct fittings myself. Anyone got a ladder I can borrow?
[F094037] I am not a plumber and this is the first time I ever replaced an entire faucet assembly. The previous one was beginning to leak and drip and the sprayer was leaking at the coupling under the sink. It took a couple of reassuring visits to the expert at the neighborhood True Value Hardware before I could envision how to do the job and also have the nerve to actually do it.
For a replacement, we chose this integrated unit which sits higher and has the sprayer built into the central spigot.
The most difficult part ot fhe job was installing the insert to cover the hole use by the separate spray extension of the faucet this replaced.
From a photographic perspective, this is not a great product photograph. It is an old stainless sink, you can see vestiges of the previous faucet's differently-shaped escutcheon, and there is plumber's putty that needs to be cleaned up there.
In this case, I wanted shiny. All it required to accomplish was the pop-up flash on my D80. Quite a surprise. There was a fair amount of ambient sunlight in the kitchen at the time, and I think that helped also.

Well, it's hard enough getting a plumber out at this time of year but imagine my surprise when I opened the door.....she unblocked the pipes fairly quickly too!!
As we were driving back to Sale from Wolves, Pam got a call from Laura to say they had arrived home to find the kitchen ceiling had all caved in and there was water everywhere. It had spread through to the dining room and soaked the carpet.
First job get hold of a plumber to repair the leak. That took twenty phone calls - tis the season of leaks!
Keith lives just round the corner and was able to be there within minutes.
With the leak fixed we were able to better assess the damage. Most of the cupboards were filled with water, all the electrical appliances were wet and all the food packets were soaked.
This morning they need an electrician to check what is safe and what is not. and then we can take it from there.
Of course amidst all this chaos, Laura and Dave have a 10 month old baby to deal with. I'm thinking that they will never forget her first Christmas for as long as they live for both good and bad reasons.
The landlord sent a plumber over to fix a clog, after I tried using three ( 3 ) bottles of drain cleaner ! When I told Paul The Plumber about this, he revealed that those commercial drain cleaners are nothing but Bleach !!!

The Plumbers came today to fix the gas leak in our grill. They found it. Apparently a rat took a small bite out of the hose. The hose has been replaced by a bite proof tubing. WE CAN GRILL AGAIN!!!

April 15, 2016: It's Nicki's birthday, but we had to spend it getting my sewer line unclogged. It was pretty simple, but since we didn't know how to do it, we hired a plumber. Now we know how to fix it.
I will get her a cake tomorrow and maybe something when I go to the Asian Festival tomorrow, provided it's not raining.
